Roan had faced two years without Astrid; his partner, his mate, his wife, his other half. Two years of sleepless nights, short fuses, and spending every waking moment training.

Each day only got worse and worse. Especially when the five-year mark hit and the group realized they were in fact, not going back to Earth. None of them would be going unless the hydrazine problem was solved. Even then, Raven had heard nothing from the bunker or from Clarke and Astrid, so far all they knew, the ground was still uninhabitable.

Bellamy and Echo would spar with him every moment they could. Even when they tapped out for the day, Roan continued doing the only thing that he knew: fighting. Their group didn't know it was possible for a man in his thirties to bulk so much based on an algae diet.

On the rare occasion, he would join Raven and Emori to check in on their progress. Not like it changed from the last time he visited, but it still brought him comfort. To see Raven reminded him of Astrid. It seemed sick, but the way they were so similar was almost like talking to Astrid again.

Raven was also the only person that seemed to truly understand the pain Roan was in. She was the only person he allowed himself to talk to about the festering guilt he held. It was their only option, she'd tell him. And that one day, they would see her again.

It wasn't until their group saw the giant spacecraft arrive to Earth that hope spark not just for Roan, but for the entire group.

They had a chance. A chance to go back home. A chance to find Astrid again.

"Boys and girls, meet Eligius IV." Raven announced as they pulled their ship to the docking station. Quickly, the group began debating on the origins of its arrival. It was concluded it had to be some sort of resourcing development, but why they returned to Earth, they couldn't quite figure out.

With Bellamy and Echo flanking Roan's sides, the group traversed the metal labyrinth. Blaring alarms sounded overhead that threatened to split his eardrums with each step. Their group rounded the corner and were forced to a dead stop by the large security doors.

"No inmates past this point." Bellamy read the large letting across the doors.

"Prison labor." Monty quickly put the pieces together, "The mining missions were dangerous. They sent people they thought were disposable."

"So, we're dealing with criminals then." Roan deduced as he peered through the frosted glass.

"Sounds familiar." Murphy added sarcastically. Raven took the helm as they continued down the passage until they found their navigation room. The blasted door to the command station unsettled the group slightly.

As soon as Raven and Monty hacked into their computers, they cut the alarm to everybody's delight. Roan stalked the perimeter of the room, marking each and every detail about it that he either wasn't familiar with, or thought would be imperative later on.

"The ship doesn't run on hydrazine." Raven announced as her fingers began typing at full speed, "They could never store enough for a long-duration mission."

"Well, what, then?" Bellamy asked the obvious question on everybody's mind.

"It looks like... hythylodium."

"What is it?" The question slipped off Roan's tongue before he could stop himself. Not everybody was as well versed as Raven and Monty.

"Must be what they were mining for, incredibly efficient energy-" Monty started before Murphy cut him off.

"Can we use it to land the pod or not?"

"Sure, if you want to explode every cell in your body." Raven answered before continuing scouring for a source of hydrazine. Not a moment later, she found their answer. "And the crowd goes wild."
