"Like each of us, somehow this valley survived." Diyoza explained as Kane, Astrid and the defectors walked through the village. "It's the last sanctuary on Earth, and we are its keepers." Gunshots and broken glass rattled off besides them as Diyoza continued, "To build a life here, we all have responsibilities. You will too."

"All of us left Polis for a better way, and all of us must do our part to get it." Kane said as they passed a group of men, all staring Astrid down. At that point, most had heard or seen what she did to Callahan and Reid. The latter was still a bit shocked when he woke from his daze yesterday. Still, Diyoza trusted her enough to keep the cuffs off and to allow her to roam as she pleased. With the guards who were brave enough to risk their lives.

"I'll be sitting down with each of you to learn your stories, to hear what skills you can bring to the community, how you can be helpful, and to see if you can be trusted." Diyoza said as they approached the rundown building the defectors would be staying in.

"Got something to say?" Astrid twisted over her shoulders to the grown ass men gossiping like teenage girls. As soon as her eyes locked on theirs, their lips were pressed in a fine line. Only one of the men dared to speak.

"Yeah, actually." The largest of the men stepped forward, "I don't understand how somebody as small as you could kill Callahan of all people."

Diyoza tried to interject, "Astrid, don't do it."

"I would stop if you know what's good for you." Astrid flashed her teeth as she strode closer to him. "I would hate to add three more tallies."

"You know what?" Diyoza approached her side, placing a hand on her shoulder, "If they want a fight, give it to them. Maybe it's time for a demonstration to show my men what's in store if they don't get their shit together."

"Diyoza, I told you. I am not your weapon." Astrid whispered loud enough for only the two to hear.

"No, but you are an influential figure. Your people know it, now it's time to convince my people."

"Fine. But you can clean up the mess." Astrid shouldered off the thick jacket she wore, leaving her in a tattered black tank top. Diyoza, the defectors, and the rest of the prisoners caught a glimpse of the trailing tattoo running to her fingertips, intermingling with the spiral of scars. Still needing updating from the conclave.

Mixed cheers spread throughout the camp, mainly for the three men that prowled around her. It didn't take long for the first man to throw a punch. Her head weaved to the side as she jammed her knee into his gut. He doubled over just as the second man came charging for her.

As a surprise to nearly everybody, Astrid sprinted full force towards him. Before his hands could reach her, she leapt from the ground, locked her arms around his head and used her body weight to swing around him. A forceful double kick had the first man plastered on the floor. Once she was balanced on the ground again, she flipped the massive man over her shoulder, right on top of the other man.

Which left the third man who was yapping from before. In a poor attempt to intimidate her, he rolled his neck, cracking the vertebrae along it while he popped his knuckles. Astrid just huffed as she stepped over the pile of bodies.

"I'm not afraid of you." He spat as he raised his fists.

"You should be."

The crowd watched in awe as Astrid maneuvered around each of the attacks. Rolling from kicks, blocking swift jabs, and laying a few good hits of her own. Another punch came flying for her face. Before it met her cheek, she had grabbed his arm, twisting it in a way until his shoulder popped out of place. A cry of pain echoed through the camp. With one hand holding his arm in place, Astrid used his moment of pain to lay one, two, three, four punching to his gut before ramming her forehead into his.
