"If you could just shut your mouth and let me explain for two minutes!" Astrid snapped at Roan in the war chambers.

"That's all you've done! You don't know how to be quiet, Asteroid." Roan yelled at her with lethality. "If we cannot send warriors to the surrounding villages. I will not allow Skaikru to think we are weak. My people can defend themselves."

Astrid sneered at the phrase: My people. As if she was not equally invested in their protection and lives. Gods, she wanted to kill him.

For the past few days, since they returned from their steamy entanglement at the hot springs, they had been squabbling nonstop. And Tilda had been forced to listen to all of it with a patient face.

When they returned that evening, they had gotten news about the blockade Lexa enforced against Skaikru. Normally, something like this wouldn't be considered an issue. But when both of them read over the letter the messenger delivered, it ignited a long-standing war between the two.

The Commander has asked for Astrid specifically to lead the army of the twelve clans while she attempted to negotiate with Clarke. Astrid knew the serious implications of this situation if Lexa wasn't able to attend.

While she was flattered that Lexa had asked her, she knew it was a test. For both the King and Queen. If Astrid failed to lead them, by her own bias towards Azgeda or her other weaknesses, then The Commander's faith in the Queen would be misplaced. If Roan interfered because of his own pride or wrath, then it would further complicate the agreement between Azgeda and the Coalition.

"It is better than them being dead, Roan." She fought back, pointing towards the map of Azgeda territory. Right under her finger was a small farming village south of them, just along the border of Azgeda and Trikru. "If we do not provide warriors, then we move them here. They will be far enough out of the way of the Skaikru war path but close enough to monitor them."

"They will not move. Neither you nor I could convince them." Roan shook his at the suggestion. Astrid groaned with annoyance, digging her nails into the table. She stretched the skin along her back, feeling the new tattoo she received last night. In the center of the spiraling scars, the Azgeda symbol. A small handprint, the size of her own, inked along her. Yet the new formed scabs were itching more than she cared to admit. Roan's need to fight her on everything wasn't helping either.

"Those people are not warriors, Roan. These are our farmers. 10 Skaikru men wiped out 300 warriors with guns. They will massacre them in minutes if they do not move." Astrid bared her teeth with an annoyed expression, only irking Roan more. "They will have to listen to their King and Queen."

Roan and Astrid had been receiving some push back from some of the Azgeda distant and more conservative villagers, those loyal to Queen Nia, in regards to the Skaikru rebellion. Most of them refused to relocate, wanting to fight against them, despite the Commander's orders.

A knock on the door halted their argument to Tilda's relief.

"Come in." Roan answered. The messenger boy from the other night slipped through the door with a worrisome look on his face. "What is it?"

"The Commander calls upon the clans. There is to be a blockade to be enforced at dawn around Arkadia." The boy paused. while Roan gave a disgruntled groan.

"No." Roan firmly denied the boy before Astrid could speak. "She will not go."

"Why the hell not?" Astrid pressed closer to Roan with simmering rage radiating off her skin. She looked down at him with defiance in her eyes.

"Because you are not a Commander, you are a Queen. You do not lead the clans, you lead Azgeda. Or did blue blood suddenly make you Commander worthy?" Roan asked rhetorically. Astrid ground her teeth, eyes hardening on him with poison.
