"Astrid, I don't know if I can do this." Octavia radioed over to Astrid, just as Bellamy walked through the door to bid his last goodbye for the next five years.

Explaining to Octavia that she was not coming back, and the fate of the entire bunker lied in her hands was not an easy conversation to have. Over and over, Octavia insisted that Astrid would have been much better equipped to handle something like that with her experience as Queen. It didn't matter. Not when the death wave closing in on them.

Out of all the people in the bunker, Astrid knew Octavia had both the compassion and rigor to lead the clans and sky people. They shared the small portion of the Venn diagram where both were hailed for the sky yet flourish with the clans.

"There's nobody but you that I trust to lead them. Don't lead them like a Commander, lead them like a Queen. Lean on Holkom, Indra, Kane. They will help guide you." Tears brimmed her eyes as she looked up to Bellamy, "There's somebody here that wants to talk to you."

Astrid quickly passed off the radio to Bellamy, then stalked out of the room to give them privacy. As soon as she stepped out that door, she embraced Roan, soft tears dampening the radiation suit. Gentle hands brushed over her hair to comfort her before they joined the rest of the group.

As they watched the death wave hit Polis, suddenly everything felt so dreadful. Raven began rambling off engineering terms of everything they needed to do, and the implications if they failed, which only made Astrid feel worse about their predicament.

It seemed like suicide now.

But to face the wrath of Praimfaya was much worse.

"Now we know the many ways we might die today, why don't you tell us what we have to do to live?" Bellamy chimed in, sparking a small bit of hope in the group.

As the clock began counting down, Raven began rattling orders to everybody to begin preparing. Roan and Astrid were tasked with shuttling supplies with Echo. Everything seemed to be going fine, until Raven's infamous slew of curses followed by smoke rising from the cockpit. After running a system analysis, Raven deemed this mission destined to be doomed.

"Raven, explain." Bellamy ordered as the rest of the group swarmed her.

"It's simple. There's no power in the Ring." She started, "Two minutes ago, I thought it wasn't a problem because I could activate it remotely."

"Over the rocket's comm system." Clarke pieced together.

"So we turn the power on from the inside."

"We can't get inside, that's the point." Raven snapped at Bellamy, "Without power, we can't even open the hangar door."

"Raven, think." Astrid approached an enraged Raven gently, "You're girl genius. You've solved bigger problems than this before."

"Not in 53 minutes." She sighed hopelessly. "It's over! Maybe if I still had ALIE's code eating away my brain, I could figure it out." Raven sat on the steps on the verge of tears, "I'm not smart enough myself."

"Yes, you are." Astrid crouched before her, holding her shaking hands, "Sinclair believed in you. We believe in you. You saved our lives in so many ways. We need you on the Ark, not ALIE."

Raven blinked as something clicked in her mind, "ALIE was on the Ark." Suddenly, she shot up past Astrid and marched towards the computer system, "ALIE was one the Ark. I was right there, so close to the kill switch, but she got away by transmitting herself to the Ring."

"Using the pod in the temple." Emori added.

"Yes. If she can do it, so can we."

"So what are we waiting for?" Astrid looked toward the group with an excited smile on her face.
