"Why aren't you listening to me? You can't give her my project!" Sobha's sharp voice echoed through the cabin, her frustration palpable.Papa sat in his chair, a stern expression on his face as both Sobha and I stood before him. He had assigned me the project that Sobha had abandoned due to wedding preparations and Rest is history. Honestly, I wasn't in the mood to argue with her. My mind was still consumed by our earlier conversation at home, where Avivansh had confided in me about his past tragedy. Despite Avivansh's reassurance that he was fine, the weight of his past memories lingered heavily .
"Don't shout here, especially not at me. You abandoned the project, causing losses for us. And I know whose idea it was, so don't argue with me," Papa intervened firmly, signaling for us to leave.
As we exited the cabin, Sobha grabbed my hands tightly, her grip rough. I pulled away from her as we reached a more private area.
"What do you think you're doing?" she glared at me.
"I don't want to argue. Move aside," I replied, my tone firm, and walked past her.
"That's my project. Back off right now!" Sobha's voice was sharp. "Typical you, always stealing everything from me. First my father, then my share of love from him, the man I was supposed to marry, and now this," she added bitterly.
I halted in my steps, turning to face her as she stood with her arms crossed. Despite her accusations, I chose to remain silent, knowing that words wouldn't make a difference.
"I wish Dad had never found you. You should have stayed rotten in that orphanage, just like your mother left you there," Sobha's harsh words pierced through the air, stinging me deeply.
"Sobha!" I shouted, anger bubbling up inside me. "How dare you drag my mother into this? It's you who neglects responsibilities and then plays the victim card." I exhaled straight myself before I said.
"Papa loved me, but he never pushed you away. It was you who was always with your friends and those stupid parties. And don't forget how you stole the idea of our project from my team," I reminded her, my voice laced with frustration.
"As for the marriage with Avinansh, you ran away without any explanation. Have you ever thought about how betrayed he and his family must have felt because of you?"
"And one you should put in your mind very clearly that,
"I am married to him now, and he is my husband. It's better you accept the truth," I added before storming out, leaving Sobha behind.
______It's really great to have you back, Avni," Ruhan said with a warm smile. He was the team leader and my senior. I returned his smile as I took a seat near Ahana, who had started as an intern when I joined and had now become an employee. We shared a great bond.
