After all the ceremonies were done, the sun began to set. Everyone gathered for a small prayer for Ayush Bhaiya and Kashis's upcoming baby. They looked really sweet together. Kashis, being four months pregnant, had a tiny bump showing. I couldn't help but smile as I watched them sitting together, with Ayush Bhaiya taking care of her. I just wished their baby all the health and happiness in the world.

I glanced across the hall until my eyes fell on him. He was standing there, looking mesmerizing in a pink kurta. I thought he wouldn’t wear it, but he did, and he looked so handsome. Everyone in the family complimented him and teased him when he told them I had picked it out for him. Meanwhile, I couldn't take my eyes off him. What’s wrong with me? I was so engrossed in my thoughts until an unfamiliar voice reached my ears.

"Next year, I wish it will be your god bharai (baby shower)," an elderly lady gently caressed my head, and I just smiled nervously, not knowing what to say.

"You are the eldest; you were supposed to give the good news first. Apparently, the younger one seems more mature," a woman probably in her thirties mocked me.

Frowning, I looked at her expression. "Jo bhi kaho, Suchita bahut lucky hai. Uski bahu kitni sundar hai aur ab ek pyara sa pota bhi ho jayega," another lady joined in, gossiping right in front of me. (Whatever you say, Suchita is very lucky. Her daughter-in-law is so beautiful, and now she will have a sweet grandson too.)

"Yeah, I feel bad for Rudrani. Mujhe lagta hai isiliye sabse chhup ke shadi ki apne bete ki," one of the ladies whispered, and I felt their judgmental stares piercing through me. (I think that’s why she kept her son's marriage hidden from everyone.)

"Yahi hota hai family se zyada business pe dhyan dene ka natija," the lady continued, her words dripping with condescension. (This is what happens when you focus more on business than family.)

"Exactly! I mean, she should pay attention to her family. Kya, ye budhape me business sambhalna and all," chimed in the other lady, their words like arrows hitting me straight in the heart. (Exactly! At this age, who manages a business?)

I clenched the fabric of my saree, trying to contain the storm of emotions raging within me. How dare they talk about her like this? My voice trembled with anger and indignation as I stepped forward, facing the two women who had dared to criticize her.

“How can you talk about Ma like that? She’s not just a businesswoman; she’s a phenomenal mother and a role model for all of us,” I spoke with conviction, determined to defend her.
