Yuvan sat silently on the couch in Avni's room, his gaze steady and piercing as I paced the room, my mind a chaotic storm. I hadn’t slept the entire night, consumed by the impossible choices before me. How could I even think of handing Ishika over to Jaswant Sindhiya? Avni would never forgive me for betraying her best friend. And now, Samarth had left too, leaving me to face this alone.

"What were you thinking, hiding all of this from everyone?" Yuvan's voice cut through my thoughts like a blade.

I stopped in my tracks and looked at him. He sat upright, his posture tense, his brows furrowed with a mix of concern and anger.

"I don’t want to talk about it," I said curtly, turning my back to him. Yuvan had somehow found out about Avni’s kidnapping, and the first thing he did was confront me. At least he’d had the sense not to tell the rest of the family yet.

"You have to talk about it," he pressed, his voice rising slightly. "Bhabhi has been kidnapped for eighteen hours, Bhai! Why didn’t you tell anyone? Not even me?"

I clenched my fists at his words, his relentless questions chipping away at my already fragile resolve.

"What will you do now? How are you going to save her?" he demanded.

"I don’t know, Yuvi!" I finally snapped, my voice echoing through the room. Frustration and helplessness clawed at me, and I ran my hands through my hair, my chest heaving with each shallow breath.

The weight of my failure hit me all at once. The image of Avni’s smiling face flashed before my eyes, and the thought of her in danger—afraid, hurt—was too much to bear. My knees buckled, and I sank to the ground, tears spilling freely down my face.

"Bhai..." Yuvan was by my side in an instant, his hands gripping my arms as he knelt beside me. His voice cracked with emotion, his usual confidence replaced with raw vulnerability. "Bhai, please don’t cry. I can’t see you like this. You’re our family’s rock. If you break, what will happen to the rest of us?"

I shook my head, unable to meet his gaze. The pain in my chest felt unbearable, like it was tearing me apart from the inside. "I’m a failure," I whispered, my voice trembling. "I couldn’t protect her, Yuvan. How can I be anyone’s rock when I’m so easy to break?"

Yuvan’s grip on my arms tightened, his voice firm but filled with compassion. "You’re not a failure, Bhai. You’re human. You have feelings it's okay to cry a little but right now, we need to find Bhabhi, not tear ourselves apart over what’s already happened."

His words didn’t erase the guilt, but they anchored me, pulling me back from the edge of despair. I looked up at him, my vision blurred by tears, and for the first time in hours, I felt the faintest glimmer of hope.
