"You know, I really like the idea of you dropping me at the office," I said, leaning back in the passenger seat as he drove through the highways. One of his hands held mine securely, while the other effortlessly guided the steering wheel.
"It's like having a personal chauffeur," I teased, a playful smile tugging at my lips.
He smirked, glancing at me briefly. "You’re my princess, Aana. I don’t have a problem being your chauffeur for a lifetime," he said, pulling my hand closer to his mouth and placing a gentle kiss on the back of it. A warm jolt of butterflies erupted in my stomach, and I couldn’t help but blush.
"Yeah, but I have a problem," I said, my tone shifting as I glanced behind us. The two black SUVs tailing us were hard to miss, each carrying a group of bodyguards. "Why did you increase the number of my bodyguards again?"
"For your safety," he replied flatly, his gaze fixed on the road ahead. I his concerns for me after everything happened with Ishika snd Samarth a week ago. Thankgod Samarth bhaiya was there to save her. His injuries are healing and he discharged few days ago. Maybe he wants to protect me but he gets paranoid sometimes.
"Vansh, you don’t have to babysit me all the time," I sighed, crossing my arms. "Besides, it gets awkward for me to work with my colleagues when the guards are always hovering around. They’re scared of me now."
"They should be scared of you," he retorted with a chuckle. "You’re their boss, after all. And trust me, I know just how ary you can be."
I shot him a glare, unamused. "Not funny, Mr. Pratap Singh."
He grinned, stealing another glance at me. "But it’s true. Remember the time you threw me out of our room just because I forgot our date."
"Vansh!" I warned, though I couldn’t hide the small smile tugging at my lips."Yeah remind me one more time If you don't want this to happen again."
"Alright, alright, I don't want to sleep on the couch forever." he relented, squeezing my hand gently. His tone softened as he added, "Aana, I can’t take risks when it comes to you. Your safety is my priority, whether you like it or not."
His sincerity melted away my annoyance, and I sighed, leaning my head against the window. "I just don’t want to live in fear, Vansh. Not when we’ve finally started to have a normal life."
He nodded, his jaw tightening. "I know. But as long as I’m here, no harm will come to you. That’s a promise."
He drove in silence, the occasional hum of the engine filling the space between us. We’d exchanged light conversation earlier, but now, the silence felt heavier—almost too quiet. I glanced at him, his profile sharp and focused on the road, his hand resting firmly on the steering wheel.
As we pulled up to my office, my heart warmed at the realization that he had driven extra miles out of his way just to drop me off. He parked the car and got out before I could protest, circling around to open the door for me.
