"Ma.....ma....ma... please don't leave me come back.."
As I awoke to the sound of muffled cries, my heart clenched with concern. I turned on the lamp, illuminating the room, only to find her tossing and turning in her sleep, drenched in sweat. It was evident she was caught in the grip of a terrifying nightmare, her hands clutching at the bedsheet in distress.
Uncertain of what to do, I hesitated for a moment before deciding to wake her. "Avni... Avni, wake up," I murmured, reaching out to shake her gently.
To my surprise, she grabbed my hand tightly, her grip strong and desperate. As I spoke her name again, her murmurs subsided, and she seemed to calm down. With a sigh of relief, I watched as she drifted back into a peaceful sleep, pulling me closer to her side.
I couldn't bring myself to move away, fearing that she might slip back into the nightmare if I did. So, I stayed by her side, brushing away stray strands of hair from her forehead as I marveled at her innocent beauty.
"She's pretty," I found myself thinking, mesmerized by her serene expression in the soft light of the lamp. As I lay beside her, maintaining a safe distance, I couldn't help but wonder about the horrors that plagued her dreams and if she would ever confide in me about them.
Lost in my thoughts, I eventually succumbed to sleep, only to be awoken by the rustling of movement beside me. Opening my eyes, I found her nestled in my embrace, her hands resting on my chest. The scent of roses enveloped me, and the sight of her bathed in sunlight took my breath away.
"Good morning, sunshine," the words slipped out of my mouth before I could stop them, leaving me bewildered by my own boldness. What was happening to me? Why did her presence have such a profound effect on me, pulling me out of the darkness I had resigned myself to?
"I am so sorry.."
Apologizing hastily, I withdrew from her hold, but she sprang up from the bed and rushed to the bathroom without a word. Left alone with my turbulent thoughts, I cursed my inability to control my emotions.
I rose from the bed and surveyed the room, noticing the subtle traces of her presence everywhere-the feminine items, the scent that lingered in the air, the scattered books that spoke of her dedication to her studies.
As I stepped out onto the balcony to take a call from Samarth, I couldn't shake the feeling of her presence lingering around me, tugging at something deep within me that I couldn't quite comprehend.
