As we drove home after dinner, the night was calm and the quiet between us felt comforting rather than awkward. It amazed me how things had changed between us-from barely exchanging words and trying to keep our distance, to now wanting to be close, even in silence. The awkwardness that once filled the air was gone, replaced with a warmth that made me want to stay beside him.

His left hand was on the steering wheel, while his right hand held mine gently; which he held force fully. I glanced at our hands, noticing the contrast-his long, veined fingers made mine look so small in comparison. A smile crept onto my face as I admired how effortlessly we fit together. He noticed and looked over at me, his lips curling up slightly, but I quickly turned my head toward the window, hiding my smile. I wasn't about to let him win this time; I was supposed to be giving him the silent treatment after all.

"Still mad at me?" he asked softly, his voice carrying a note of tenderness that made my heart flutter.

I sighed, determined to stay strong. "I'm sure Ishika will kill me tomorrow, and it's all because of you," I said, keeping my gaze fixed on the passing scenery outside. I could already picture Ishika's fury; she'd been counting on me to help her move into her new apartment, and I had bailed on her at the last minute.

He chuckled, feigning innocence. "What did I do?" he asked, sounding completely oblivious, though I knew better.

"You made me stay with you instead of helping my best friend move into her new apartment," I said, trying to keep the irritation in my voice, but I could feel it slipping away. It was hard to stay mad at him when he was looking at me with those soft, apologetic eyes.

He chuckled, squeezing my hand gently. "I didn't make you stay. Didn't You wanted to be with me."

I huffed, turning my gaze back to the window, but I knew he was right. Of course, I wanted to be with him, even though I had every intention of helping Ishika. It was just that being with him felt right, like there was no other place I'd rather

"You begged me to stay," I mumbled, more to myself than to him.

"Pffft! What...no..it's not true", he said putting an act.

"Liar", I mutter more likely wishpered.

"Achha I am sorry, tell me does spending time with your wife is crime" he said, making an adorable face I almost melted to his antics.

"You are such a drama queen" I scoffed. And he let a soft chuckle.
"I promised her, and I completely bailed." I looked away.

He laughed softly, and I could feel the warmth of his gaze on me even though I didn't turn to meet it. "I'm sure Ishika will understand. Besides, didn't Samarth help her out?"
