Steve was sitting at his desk in the room, working on some things. He was going over written statements about the kingdom and who was to be crowned king at any point.

"Steve. Come on, it's late." I said.

I honestly hadn't been getting sleep since being pregnant. But Steve being beside me helped.

He glanced up, taking a deep breath.

"Alright." He whispered. He shut the lamp off, getting into bed. He kissed my cheek. I just smiled at him.

"I can't believe we are going to be parents. I know I've explained that but.."

"Yes. I agree."

He smiled. A warm, gentle, tired smile. I wanted to take all of his stress away. I wanted him to just be carefree and happy just like he was when I met him.

"My lord." I said. I rubbed his cheek. He groaned.

"You make me want you so bad."

"I am fat. And with child."

"You are not fat. You are growing something in there."

"Mmmm."

"Ella. Hey.."

I smiled softly. "I cannot wait for this child to pop out so that you can have sex with me again."

He smirked. "We are pretty good at that."

"It's how I fell in love with you."

"Not my personality? You're just here for him?"

"Not just your cock. Your personality is what had shone through."

He smiled, laying back. "Maybe my father is right. Maybe you do make me soft."

"I take no shame in that." I whispered. He pulled me into a short kiss.

"I don't think i do either."

I kissed his temple, pulling him in. He laid next to me, his head on my shoulder. I played with his golden hair.

"I want our baby to have your hair, your eyes, your smile-"

"-your precious cheeks, your nose, your gentle features, your personality.."

I hummed. "I don't know about that."

"Well she's half your dna too."

I glanced at him. "You said she. It's a he."

"I don't think it is darling. There's a little girl in there just waiting to come out."

I giggled. "It can't be though.."

"Yes it can my love. We've talked about this. Women can rule. And when my father is dead I can help to make sure of it."

"Okay." I whispered. He kissed my neck.

"You and the child need sleep."

"Mmm. I truly cannot wait until she comes out. This is so uncomfortable."

"Soon. Very soon."

I nodded. "Well, I know you've been stressed. So please get some sleep. Just stay in bed until sunrise. I beg of you."

He sighed. "I have to be up before sunrise."

"No you do not. Whatever Matthew or your father need.."

"Fine. I suppose. But you know what Matt and my father said about being weak right? And being too fond of you?"

"You're not."

"Mmm."

"I don't want you to think that. Steve..."

"You're right. Yeah."

I nodded. "Maybe they're right. I mean perhaps in public you shouldn't be as concerned of me. I mean your father is on my arse."

He rubbed my stomach. "Elenor."

"No I'm serious. I think it would help."

"Alright." He whispered. "If it makes you feel better."

"Thank you."

"Get some rest love."

Matthew walked into the room that I sat in. I glanced up, looking at him. Penelope was pushing him into the room.

"I swear.."

I got up. Matthew came over.

"Uhm. I feel as though we got on the wrong foot princess."

"Who are you trying to impress? I hope it is not me."

"Just listen Elena. I'm sorry. I'm not who you think I am."

"Arrogant? Rude? My husband has worked his arse of for this position. You are just as power hungry as your father-"

"-my father lied. He told me that Steve had asked to not be king. He said that Steve knew about me.."

I sighed. "What goes on in this fucked up family?"

"Enough to make you cringe darling." Steve said as he came in. He led Penelope to her husband.

"Sit down. Both of you."

Steve sat me down. I sighed. He put his arm behind me on the sofa.

"I've talked with him. We are on similar terms. I promise."

"You have dreamed of being king-"

"He's got that role Elenor."

I glanced at Steve. "Who- umm who is Elenor I-"

"Steve told me. I know there are secrets between multiple people in this family. You're safe."

I set my hand on my stomach. "I don't...I am sorry I don't trust you. I-"

"Relax. Breathe El. You don't want to scare that baby."

I nodded, trying not to panic. I didn't trust him in the slightest. Everything about him.

"I don't mean any harm. I want to help. Steve and my mother meant the world to me, and they still do now."

"What happened to you being rude to Steve when he was a boy?"

"I was not nice. All I did was messed with him. He was a child still."

I sighed. Steve gave me a nod. "It's alright. Trust me."

I nodded.

"You just need to focus on having your child. Steve and I can take care of our father."

I hummed. "I hope so."

"So....are we alright now?" Steve asked.

"As long as everyone else is."

I did not like these feelings.
