Everything was fine until I heard that booming voice.

"ELENA!"

My skin crawled. I had two month old Laura in my arms. Joseph came into the lounge room.

I didn't know what to do. Do I run?

Steve wasn't here. Oh god.

"You! I KNOW YOUR SECRET! You are a fool. You're a fake! One of my goddamn maids?! You had a royals child!"

Matthew stood in the corner. He looked beaten. I felt my cheeks flush. He told him. I didn't trust that man. I knew I should've trusted my instincts.

"GET UP!"

I got up. He grabbed my arm, hard. I almost lost grip of my child. I was going to be beheaded. I was going to be kicked out. I was going to raise Laura on my own.

Where was Sarah? She would save me. Joseph seemed to stop around her. I needed help.

"Please don't throw me out I am begging. Just let me wait until Steve gets back. We will explain everything.."

"Oh I am not throwing you out. No...I have a place just for you and this fool of a child."

Matthew was led out by a guard. No. I wanted him to see where I went. He could at least tell Steve. Joseph was so strong.

"Please...just wait until Steve."

He stopped, slapping me hard across the face. Laura cried in my arms. I held my cheek. It stung in pain. I could barely even think of it though.

"Shut your stupid little mouth. I knew you were wrong the whole time."

He pulled me by my arm to the library. He pushed one of the bookcases, taking me down a secret hallway. In there was a room. Empty.

Steve would never find this. I was gonna die. I couldn't even tell the love of my life goodbye.

"No. No please... no you can't. I will leave. As long as Steve remarries. We have not even presented the baby yet...please. She's a royal even if I am not. Please at least take her. I beg of you let her have a life even if I die!"

"I don't want a firstborn female in my bloodline anyways. You won't last a week in here. Neither will your fake baby. You bastard."

I felt tears well up. "Let me wait for Steve. He can't even say goodbye to his child."

"My son is weak. You have corrupted this family. I hope you die here. We will have this wiped from our history."

He threw me into the room. I fell back, making sure that Laura didn't hit anything. He slammed the door, locking it.

"No no no no please. No!"

I let out a sob as I heard everything close. It was dark. I did not know what to do.

I held Laura she cried in my arms. I didn't have any food or water. My breast milk would last her a few days. My dress could be done up as cloth for her.

I had to keep her awake. Steve was to be back in three days time. He had to find me. He had to. I had to stay alive.

It took me a while to calm down, and to calm down Laura with me. She whimpered. I knew I had to feed her when I still could.

I moved my dressed, getting her latched.

I fed her before letting her fall asleep on me. Whatever I could do to make sure she was relaxed.

I had to stay strong.

All I could think of was Steve. His hair. His body. His eyes. His smile.

The way he made me laugh. The way he was always making sure I was alright.

And I had to hear that. I was alright. He would find me. I trusted my husband.

"It's okay Laura Lynn. Your father is going to find us. We are alright..." I whispered.

I prayed to anything that I would be found.

I just had to stay strong.

~~~
I don't know how long it had been since I was locked in the room. I was starved. My milk was not coming in right. My dress had been cut for Laura's cloths.
Laura cried in my arms. I hushed her.
"It's alright. It's alright.."
I knew my fate at this point. I would die here. Laura would die too.
I just had to keep these moments with her. Until I knew it was too late.
