Steve

I sat in the lounge room with my wife and daughter. Laura was kissing her mothers stomach.

"Hi little baby." She whispered. I chuckled.

"Is your little sibling in there?"

"Yes. I cannot wait to meet them."

I smiled. "Me too."

Elenor kissed our daughters head. "Do you think it's a boy or a girl?"

"Girl."

I nodded. I hoped not. We would be in such trouble if it were to be.

El sat back a bit. "Yeah? Well we will see."

If it was a girl, I'm sure it's only my fault. My seed has to have something wrong with it.

Realizing I was lost in my own thoughts, I turned, picking Laura up. I kissed her little cheeks over and over. She giggled.

"Noooo." She said while laughing. I pulled her into a hug.

"Laura Lynn you're gonna be the best older sister this kingdom has ever seen."

She smiled at me. I kissed her head.

Elenor smiled at the both of us. I leaned over and gave her a kiss.

Laura got down to play on the floor. I brought my wife closer.

"You feeling alright?"

She nodded, smiling. She rested her head on my shoulder. I kissed her hair.

"Do you need anything?"

"No. You're fine right here."

I nodded. Elenor's pregnancy had been a little rocky. She hadn't felt great the whole time, but she was doing better than the first. She knew what to expect.

"I should walk." She said. She was just about in her nesting stage.

"Yeah? We can take Laura."

"Alright."

We got up, walking outside.

I held Laura's hand as we walked. She stopped, asking for me to hold her. I picked her up.

"She needs her rest soon." Elenor said.

"I see. I can take her."

"I might take one with her. I'm so exhausted."

"Alright." I said. I handed her over. She smiled, pulling me into a kiss.

"I love you." She said.

"I love you too. I'll see you later."

She left with our daughter. I smiled.

My little family there. Gosh.

~~~
Elenor got into bed after putting Laura down. She looked so tired.
"You alright?"
"Mhm."
"Do not lie."
"I'm alright. I just have felt very uneasy."
I sat up, rubbing her stomach. "Do I call Banner?"
"No....no I'm okay. Maybe I'm just going into early labor."
"Is that not good?"
"Well...no. But my water has not broke."
"What do you need from me?" I asked.
"Nothing. You are just fine. I think I'm overthinking."
"Mother's intuition. Talk to my mother tomorrow. We will see what she says."
"Can you bring her now?" She asked. She looked scared, sitting up.
"Alright. Sit tight."
I got up, going to my mothers wing. I knocked on the door.
"Come in." She said.
"Hi. Uhh....something is not right with Elenor."
She stood up from her desk, following me.
"What is the matter?"
"She just has not been herself. She feels as though something is wrong with the child."
"Oh goodness. Do I send out for Banner?"
"Maybe."
We walked into our room. Elenor was sitting on the bed.
"I am not sure what's wrong. I feel...sick..I'm not so sure."
Sarah came over, feeling her head.
"Oh darling. You're burning up."
"No...what?"
"Oh my gosh. I'm calling Banner. We need to check Laura as well."
"Sarah. You cannot be in here." She said. "Steve...can you please send someone out for Bruce?"
I nodded, shooing my mother out. "Go back to bed."
"I'll stay with her. It's alright."
I shook my head. "I cannot have you sick as well."
~~~

I sat in the room as Banner helped her. "I have some herbs and teas. You need to rest as much as possible."

She nodded. "Please check on Laura. I need to know that she is alright."

"I will. Steve?"

The maids tended to my wife. I got into Laura's room. She stirred as I came over.

"Papa?"

"Hi sweet girl. Doctor Banner is here...I'm just going to have him run a few tests. I'm right here."

She sat up a little. Bruce placed his hand on her forehead.

"She has no fever yet. But I would watch her." He said. "I would not go into your room with the queen falling ill."

I sighed, nodding. "I'll be alright."

"You cannot risk it."

"I've already been around her...I kissed her."

"Just to be safe until her fever breaks."

I nodded. Laura looked up at me from her bed. "Mama?"

"She's alright. Go back to sleep."

She started to cry. "Don't leave."

I sighed. "I...I'll have your nurse come in."

"No! You!"

"I'll leave. You take care of your daughter." Bruce said. I nodded.

He left the room. I sat down.

"You're alright." I whispered. She got up and hugged me. I laid her down.

"Is mama sick?"

"Yeah. But she's gonna be fine."

I had to tell myself that. She will be fine. Our baby will be fine.

This happens. It is fine.
