I sat in the backseat alone in Evan's car. Natalie and Evan were on the hood of the car in each other's arms while they talked to another couple. Jasper had decided to go home with Makayla after school was over. He probably didn't think I was going to see him but I did. I always saw him. He broke the schedule not that it was an important one considering it was only Tuesday so we were going to be at his house anyways come Wednesday morning. Evan and Natalie finished their conversation and got in the car; Evan was behind the wheel and Natalie was in the passenger seat.

"Well I was planning on waiting for Jasper but he's taking too long so we're going to leave without him," Evan announced then started up his car.

"He's spending the night at Makayla's," I informed him and Natalie turned around in her seat to look at me. "That's what we talked about during our first period," I added.

Evan let out a chuckle and began to pull out of his parking spot.

"Talked?" Natalie questioned.

"Yeah," I responded. "We didn't go to our first period."

"Ashton-"

"I know I should be expecting a lecture from mom and dad on Thursday but it's really not that big of a deal, Nat."

"Yeah babe," Evan chimed in and his girlfriend looked at him. "It was just one period."

"Yeah." She looked at me again. "I'll just make up the work tomorrow."

I looked down at my phone turning it on, pretending that I was texting someone just to cut the conversation short. And it worked. Natalie let out a breath and then turned back around in her seat. Our parents aren't the type to completely flip the table and ground us. They're more like the parents who tell you why you shouldn't skip class or why you shouldn't take candy from a corner store. I knew there wasn't going to be a big deal about the whole thing which is exactly why it didn't bother me. It was my first and last time (hopefully) skipping class with Jasper.

"Oh babe can we stop by Walmart I need to grab a few things," Natalie said while she applied lipgloss on her lips through the mirror on the shade flap.

"A few things meaning what?" Evan questioned.

I zoned out their conversation so that I could text Jasper, to pass the time.

Me: What are you up to?

I was waiting for a while for his response and automatically my mind went to the more possible and common scenes. They were making out in Makayla's car in the school parking lot still, he was teasing her while she drove them to her house, or they were already at her house doing whatever they were doing. I turned off my phone and then flipped it over on my lap so I couldn't see any notifications that popped up.

Evan pulled into the parking lot of Walmart and once he was parked Natalie gave him a quick kiss on his lips before getting out. Once she closed the door behind her Evan locked the doors and it was just the two of us alone. This was rare for us. Being the only two in an enclosed space without Jasper and Natalie. It was awkward. Way too awkward. So what did I do to break the silence?

"Do you know what she's getting?"

"No," he responded in a dry tone.

"What do you think she's getting?"

"Probably some more snacks."

I nodded. Damn, why was this so awkward?

"So you really skipped your first period with Jasper?" he asked, turning around in his seat and he sounded more interested in this conversation.
