Jasper got out of Preston's car once he pulled into the driveway of his house. I knew that Evan and Natalie were already home because I saw Evan's car parked near the sidewalk of his house. I never knew why he didn't park in the garage but after he explained to me that his parents needed it for their cars I soon understood. The Morgan's had three cars; one for Mrs. Morgan and one for Mr. Morgan. Then there was Evan's car and soon Jasper would have his own car when he chose to get his license.

"Ash," Jasper called out to me and I looked at him standing beside my door. "You coming?"

"Yeah, just give me a minute."

His eyes looked over my shoulder at Preston then they were back on me. "Make sure you lock the door when you get inside," Jasper informed me.

It wasn't my first time being at his house and I had house training. Why was he telling me this like I was new to the world? "I will, Jasper," I said then he walked off and I turned in my seat to look at Preston.

"I had a lot of fun today," I started the conversation lightly.

"Me too," Preston said with a smile. "Maybe next time you could be the one behind the wheel."

We both chuckled. As if that were going to happen anytime soon. "Maybe," I said with a faint laugh.

"Just minus him."

"Who? Jasper?" I questioned. "Why would we have to exclude him?"

"Nothing against him but he acts like a bodyguard around you," Preston stated and that was true.

"He's not usually like that," I said, defending Jasper. "It was a new environment and I guess he just wanted to make sure that I was okay."

"Yeah, that's true but you're not a kid," he chuckled.

I dropped my eyes to the center console thinking about his comment. Then that's when I realized that Preston didn't know how old I was.

"But," he spoke again and I locked my eyes with him. "If he's as close as a friend like you say he is then I won't break you two up."

"That's not a problem," I said.

Break up? Did he have to put it like that? Once our conversation ended and his car went back to being silent I was left staring into his eyes. I should say goodbye right? That would make sense but I couldn't move my body. Something else had to be said.

"I hope you didn't take offense when I turned down your offer," I said softly.

Preston waved it off. "No worries," he said. "I understand. I knew that was moving too fast considering we only just met."

"But I would love to go over to your place in the near future," I added.

"Just let me know and I'll pick you up."

Our conversation ended with that and after we said our goodbyes I got out of his car. We waved to each other before I made my way to the front door. I pushed the door open, listening to Preston's car start up as he pulled out of the driveway. I was inside the house when I heard Evan's voice in the kitchen and that's exactly where I went.

"There you are," Natalie exclaimed.

"Here I am," I said, climbing into the barstool.

The four of us were back together again. Natalie leaning on the island counter beside me, Evan standing opposite the island, and Jasper standing across from me.

"Jasper won't tell us what you two did today," Evan informed me.

"Cause it's none of your business," Jasper said. His tone was not at all snappy in any way but the words he chose spoke a different demeanor.
