After telling Preston when to pick me up and sending him my address I changed into something comfortable (by his request) and then made my way downstairs. I was curious to know what surprise he had in store for me. There weren't a lot of things that came to mind, but I was still excited. Once I got downstairs and then turned the corner to the kitchen, I saw Jasper sitting on the counter with his phone in his hand. He looked up, noticing my presence and his eyes looked at me up and down before looking in my eyes.

"You decided to go with him?" He questioned me and then placed his phone on the counter.

"Yeah," I replied with a shrug.

He nodded his head and didn't say anything else. What has gotten into him? This isn't the same Jasper that I've known for eight years. The Jasper that was sitting in front me was a completely different person and I would be lying if I said I didn't miss the old him. The one before all the failed relationships. The one before meeting Makayla. Speaking of Makayla...

"What are you going to do while I'm gone?" I decided to ask out of curiosity.

"Usually it would be playing video games," he responded. "But being in the house alone it wouldn't feel right."

"You should go see Makayla," I said and quickly dropped my eyes to the tiled flooring in the kitchen.

"You know I see her on Sundays."

I looked up, making eye contact again. "You already broke the schedule," I stated. "When you went to see her on Tuesday."

The look Jasper gave me was bone chilling. His stare was cold and blank. I didn't know what to make of it. Was he mad at me for bringing up the schedule? Was he mad that I didn't think to invite him? Saturdays are me and Jasper's days to hang out and be the close friends that we are. But now I got the feeling that since Preston is in the picture things weren't going to be the same. Jasper didn't make a comment on what I said about him going to Makayla's and I didn't want to fuel the fire so I left it at that. I checked my phone once I received a message from Preston letting me know that he was already outside.

"He's here," I said. "So I'm going."

"I'll go with you," he said, quickly hopping off the counter.

"Why?" I asked and I knew I sounded harsh but I really did want to know why he wanted to come.

"I told you, I have nothing better to do."

I thought ahead into the rising conversation and knew that there was nothing that I could say to change his mind. So I let out a sigh without arguing with him. "Okay."

"Should I change?"

I shook my head. "You'll be fine."

I led the way to the front door so we could meet up with Preston. His car was parked across the street from my house and I didn't wait for Jasper to walk beside me. I guess this was another way that I could get them to finally meet and talk with each other. It was a lot sooner than I planned (I didn't have a plan) but this could work.

"Hey," I said once I slid into the passenger seat of Preston's car.

"Hey," Preston said with a grin.

I noticed his eyes looking over my shoulder possibly at Jasper making his way to the car. "Who's he?"

I glanced over my shoulder at Jasper then faced Preston. "That's my friend that I was telling you about," I informed him. "The one on the basketball team with his brother."

"Is he coming with us?" Preston asked with a raised eyebrow and I could sense he already did not like the idea of Jasper tagging along.

"I couldn't say no," I said with a shrug.
