The day was finally Friday. This week felt like the longest week ever and I couldn't wait for the weekend to arrive. After we got back home from practice on Thursday, Jasper didn't bother talking to Evan or Natalie considering what was said during the car ride. He made his way to the kitchen grabbed a few slices of pizza that my parents ordered and then made his way upstairs. I apologized to my parents for Jasper's behavior but was dragged into the lecture that I'd been avoiding the whole week.

"Start talking," my mom said, putting her hands on her hips.

"I'm sorry," I apologized but I knew that wasn't enough. "I don't know what came over me when I skipped class on Tuesday but I promise that it won't happen again."

"And you didn't go to school at all today?" my mom brought up.

"Yeah," I said.

"Why?" my dad asked, joining in on the conversation.

Lie or tell the truth?

"Jasper needed company."

Truth it is and I just threw him under the bus.

"Jasper?" my mom questioned and I nodded.

"He wasn't feeling too good and I didn't just want to leave at home alone so I stayed with him," I added and started to wish someone would tape my mouth shut.

"So you missed a whole day of school because you were with Jasper?"

Why did he say it like that?

"Yeah," I replied.

"You know they have these things called phones now," my dad said as if I didn't know that. "You could've texted him to check up on him."

"I know dad," I said. "It won't happen again I promise."

I watched both of my parents look at each other and then back at me before my mom waved me off. But before I could take a step away she said my name. "Tell Jasper that he could've at least said hi," my mom said.

"I will."

I turned away from my parents and made my way to the stairs so I could get to my room. I let out a breath once I was inside and saw him sitting at the head of my bed with his plate on his lap which held two slices of pizza and he had one in his hand.

"Did I get you in trouble?" Jasper questioned me once I closed my door and sat on the side of my bed.

"Not at all," I said and when he extended his arm out with the plate in his hand I took a slice for myself. "But my mom does want you to work on your manners."

"What manners?" he asked, pushing his eyebrows together.

"You completely ignored my parents when you went into the kitchen," I stated then took a bite from the slice.

"Shit," he swore under his breath and I let out a faint chuckle. "Should I apologize?"

"I already apologized for you."

"You did?"

"Yeah," I said with a shrug.

He dropped his head to his lap and took a careful bite of his pizza. "It doesn't hurt to thank me, Jasper."

He looked up at me and let out a small laugh. "Thanks, Ash," he said, igniting a warm feeling inside me.

"You're welcome."

~Friday~

The sound of the school bell ringing signaled the end of our third period and now it was time for first lunch. I was lucky to have the first lunch because I knew I couldn't stand sitting in another class knowing that others were eating and socializing with their friends. I waited at the end of the hallway for Jasper, Ryder, and Sophia so we could walk to the cafeteria together like we always did. The three of them had the same class which I found out when my teacher combined our class with theirs. It was for some group project that I don't really remember because it was at the beginning of the school year.
