Saturday morning I woke up in my bed and rolled over on my side, noticing Jasper sleeping on the blown up air mattress across from me. He was usually always awake before me so I was surprised that he was still asleep. I picked up my phone that was on my bed and turned it on to check the time.

11:14 am.

I unlocked my phone then laid on my back going to my contacts. I was going to text Ryder to see what he was planning on doing today but seeing Preston's name saved under my recently added contacts changed my mind. I tapped his name then the messages.

Me: Good morning. Do you have any plans for today?

That was pretty straight forward. I stared at my only message sent to him and waited for a response. Maybe he was still asleep? I frowned but before I turned off my phone my brain started working. This was the only message that I sent to him so he probably didn't know that it was me. I decided to add,

Me: This is Ashton btw.

Now I was back to waiting again.

After five minutes went by I came to the conclusion that he was definitely still asleep. The sound of Jasper groaning and shuffling around on the bed caused me to turn off my phone and give him my attention. Seeing his shirtless body and messy hair was an everyday thing for me but every morning he seemed to look hotter and hotter. Making my crush on him grow deeper.

"Good morning," I said in a soft tone.

"Morning Ash," his tone was raspy and low, which gave me butterflies.

"How'd you sleep?" I asked just to get some sort of conversation going.

"Alright," he replied, then used his upper body strength to lift up his drowsy body. "What time is it?"

I turned on my phone to check the time. "11: 20," I informed him.

There wasn't a text from Preston still. I tried not to let it get to me but it did. I wasn't an emotional person and I didn't let simple things like this affect my mood but waiting on his response left me feeling anxious. Then I started to overthink everything. What if he didn't mean what he said by saying he wanted to talk outside of school? What if he saw my message then blocked me? What if-

"Ash."

I made eye contact with Jasper. Fuck. Was he talking to me?

"Did Natalie and Evan leave?" he asked.

"I'm not sure," I replied. "I just woke up."

He tossed his blanket off of his body then walked around my room most likely trying to find his shirt. Just in case our older siblings were still home and chose to barge into my room then see Jasper shirtless and start looking at us sideways, it was best that he was clothed.

Once he found his shirt he pulled it over his head then made his way back to the mattress, sitting down on the edge of it with his eyes locked on his phone. It was obvious that he was texting Makayla by the way a tiny grin appeared on his face. I don't know if I said this already but she was the only one that could make Jasper smile. Even when he just woke up.

"Is that Makayla?" I decided to ask just to get confirmation.

"Yeah," Jasper replied but his voice trailed off while he texted her.

My eyes dropped to my bed while I played with my blanket. Called it. "You two made up?"

Silence.

I slowly lifted my head when I didn't get an immediate response from him and nearly felt my heart skip a beat when our eyes locked onto each other.
