We were on our way to Jasper and Evan's house after the final bell rang. I was too confused to focus on anything during the ride.

"Do you have a crush on Jasper?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know."

"You better find out soon because I'm certain that he's trying to get back with Makayla."

Something like that was the main source of my confusion. Over and over again I wanted to believe that Jasper was done with Makayla but even I knew that wasn't true.

"He really did love her."

"Ash."

The sound of Jasper's voice saying my name then his hand tapping my arm caused me to look at him. "Are you okay?"

I nodded. "Yeah," I said softly.

I wasn't okay, obviously. I refused to believe that Jasper made me distance myself from Preston then go behind my back and text Makayla. I know Jasper and I know that is one thing he wouldn't do. But then again, I didn't know him well enough to think that he would go back with an ex. In this case, it seemed like he would. Once Evan pulled his car in front of the driveway then shut it off we all got out. As we made our way to the front door I noticed an Uber Eats bag sitting in front of the door.

"Who ordered food?" Natalie asked, walking ahead of us to check the bag.

"I did," Jasper said.

"Why?" Evan questioned his brother.

"Cause none of you guys know how to cook and I knew I was going to be hungry." Jasper walked up to Natalie, grabbing the bag from her hands while she attempted to open it.

"Hey!" she exclaimed letting out a gasp.

"Have your boyfriend order you something if you're that hungry," Jasper said before making his way inside.

I found the altercation funny but it still wasn't enough to put a smile on his face. Once we were all inside I followed Jasper upstairs to his room while Natalie and Evan hung out in the living room. Did I have a plan and topic of conversation when it was going to be just the two of us? No. But did I have something for us to talk about? Well...

"What did you get?" I asked him then sat on his couch and he sat on his bed.

"Wingstop," he replied, opening the bag. "Want some?"

I shook my head. "No thank you," I said softly.

"Okay but don't say I didn't ask," he said under his breath but I still heard him.

A small silence began to build up between us but before it could grow Jasper spoke with his mouthful of fries. "Sophia was wondering if you're coming to the kickback on Friday."

Another party?

"Uhh... where is it going to be?"

"Well we were thinking of her house then Hugo suggested mine," Jasper informed me.

"Kickback is-"

"Friends and invite only," he clarified for me.

I knew that but I just wanted to hear what he had to say. "I don't know," I shrugged.

"I know you don't like drinking and you don't like parties but you don't have to drink," he said like that was going to change my mind. "Or," he added. "If you want to drink then we can throw it at your house so you can go to sleep when you get drunk."

That also wasn't going to change my mind. "I'll think about it," I said even though I really wasn't going to give it a second thought. "But I guess since we're on this topic-"
