By the time the sun had gone down Preston dropped me off at my house. Looking in from the outside I already knew that everyone was asleep and I was in no hurry to get inside. I took off my seatbelt and turned in the passenger seat so I was facing Preston.

"I had fun today," I said, not being able to stop the smile from showing on my face.

"Me too," Preston said, leaning on the center console, nearly closing the gap between us. "But do you know what you're going to tell your parents?"

I shrugged my shoulders. At that moment I really didn't care what to say to anyone about me skipping school for the second time. "I'll find something to tell them."

Preston grinned then placed his finger underneath my chin, drawing me closer to him. The closer we got the more my eyes started to close as I prepared for the moment our lips would touch.

"You should... head inside," Preston said, his voice barely above a whisper.

"I know," I said in an equal tone. I felt the heat radiating off his lips onto mine and the teasing was enough to send me over the edge.

"I want to kiss you."

"Do it."

Finally I was able to close my eyes when I felt Preston's lips against mine. I savored the tender kiss that we shared, deepening it when I felt his tongue slide into my mouth. I didn't want to pull away but I knew I did have to go inside at some point. Something that Preston also knew which is why he slowly pulled away, breaking the kiss.

"I'll see you tomorrow," Preston said and I nodded.

Completely forgetting about the kickback that I decided to throw at my house it was sinking in. I got out of his car hesitantly making my way up the driveway. I pushed the front door open, entering the silent house that wasn't going to be like this by tomorrow. I took off my shoes and dropped my backpack by the door before making my way upstairs to my bedroom. Since my door was cracked open I was able to step inside then closed it shut behind me. There was a small joy that filled me when I saw that Jasper was laying on the blown up air mattress.

But he wasn't asleep.

"Where were you?" he asked, without wasting any time, to let me sit on my bed.

"I was with Preston," I replied honestly. "Where did you go last night?"

"I was with Makayla," Jasper replied without a second thought. "You skipped school to hang out with him?"

"Yes and you snuck out to see her?"

"Yes."

I shrugged my shoulders then laid down on my side, facing Jasper once I was in my bed. Then there was the silence. Something that wasn't as uncomfortable before but now it was unbearable. I couldn't let the silence build up anymore which is why I broke it. "Are you seriously not going to the kickback?"

"I'll be there," Jasper said and I was glad that it was dark in my room, otherwise he would see that I was smiling.

"What made you change your mind?"

"It's a Saturday. I have nothing better to do on Saturdays."

Understandable.

"Jasper-"

"I'm going to sleep," he said, then turned over on his side, having his back to me.

Great talk.

~Kickback~

The time was finally here. My first kickback that I was hosting not by choice but only because I wanted Preston to be here with me. One thing that Jasper didn't know was that. I was standing by the front door, letting everyone in. Yes, everyone. Gavin, Hugo, Quinn, Sophia, Sasha, Ryder, some friends of Natalie and Evan's, and even Makayla.
