And that's how we ended up moving into the capital city, Seoul.

Divorces are never fun, especially when you never saw it coming at you so suddenly. But my mother insisted on leaving this place for good, never turning back because of the bad memories it brought her.

Though my father begged, pleaded on his knees till his legs gave in, Ji-eun spared nothing for him. Absolutely nothing, all he was left with was a shared sum of the house we used to live in, and that young woman he cheated on my mother with.

I guess he got what he deserved.

"Haeun, Eunmi, I don't wanna hear it from the two of you, that you don't wanna be here, or that you wanna move back. We're living here now, whether you like it or not." My mother upright told us, and judging by the tone of her voice, we probably shouldn't test the waters with her.

"Yes ma'am." I pretended to salute as she turned to look at me, a glare coming straight at me.

We were facing our new house, it wasn't as big as our other one. But I suppose we're now only a family of three, so it's not like it matters anymore.

It really sucked, spontaneously leaving your best friends and your childhood town for a complete refresh.

Trust me, I didn't want to move so far from home too, I tried negotiating with my mother, but clearly she meant it when she said she wanted nothing to do with my father.

I had to find a new life in a completely new city, new friends, new things to do. I couldn't just go to school and greet everybody as if I knew them straight from childhood.

It hurt me the most that my mother wouldn't even consider my own best friends. She knew them for probably as long as I did, but ruthlessly, she demanded me to forget about them and leave.

How is someone supposed to forget about their own best friends of years?

With a sigh, we walked into our house. It was quite spacious and cozy inside, I suppose this is my new humble abode.

"I'M GETTING THE BIGGEST ROOM!" Eunmi ran for the stairs, and as soon as she said that, I dropped my suitcase, running up behind her and dashing at another door as she went into another room.

I picked the room with a balcony to my surprise, it was a relatively large room, I didn't need a big one anyways, so this would do.

Eunmi barged into my room, then she gave a groan and proceeded to fake cry.

"Why the hell do you always get the best rooms even though I literally went up first." She looked around the room I randomly chose, then proceeded to look at the patio windows, staring out of them.

"That's why you don't rush into things." I turned to look at her as she just gave a scoff, opening the balcony door and standing out in it.

"EUNMI, HAEUN!" My mother called our names from below, and the two of us just gave a look at each other.

Okay, well, this could mean one of two things; we were both dead, or, we were both dead.

There was really no inbetween nowadays. The two of us made sure to walk on eggshells around our mother, up until she finally cools down.

"Hey, if mother asks who took her perfume from her suitcase, I'm saying it's you." Eunmi hurriedly made her way downstairs as I rolled my eyes with a brief laugh.

We walked over to the kitchen where our mother was standing, looking around and seemingly, in a good mood.

She turned to look at us, giving a faint smile.

"Haeun, I've already signed you up to your new school, so I'll talk to you about that soon and when you'll be starting. And Eunmi." She gave me a smile, and then glanced over Eunmi, "get a job will you?"

Eunmi gave a scoff, looking at our mother in disbelief as I just burst out into laughter.

"Even she knows you're a freeloader, seriously, when are you moving out?" I chuckled, finding amusement in this.

"Oh come on! You know fine well that the houses in Seoul are expensive, how do you expect your daughter to live? Do you want me to be homeless mother? You really want your beautiful, sweet, amazing, funny daughter to live on the streets?" Eunmi began sucking up to our mother.

She just gave a chuckle, rolling her eyes and proceeding to walk out of the kitchen.

"Alright Eunmi, whatever whatever, go unpack already you little freeloader." Ji-eun seemed to be in a good mood, which we were both astounded about, but did not question.

"Ah, you guys are so rude." Eunmi sulked jokingly, pulling her suitcase up and trudging her way upstairs as I did the same.
