SOME TIME LATER

I leant my head back, my hair a mess, and out of breath. I looked over at Niki, and he was the exact same, throwing his shirt over his head.

"Jesus Haeun, I don't even know who's winning this bet anymore." Niki stood up from my bed, chuckling as I walked over to my desk, sitting on the chair and fixing my makeup.

"Me." I simply stated, I mean, where was the lie in this?

"Mm okay, whatever you say." Niki looked on his phone, reading a text of some sort. I stared at him through my mirror as his expression faded into a frown.

"What is it?" I turned back to look at him, he slid his phone in his pocket and grabbed his jacket from the floor, putting it on.

"Need to go, something urgent." He vaguely replied, I just rolled my eyes, watching him about to head out of my room.

His hand on the doorknob, he opened it, and then turned back to look at me.

"You should probably send your penpal your letter, I'm curious to see what he'll say." Niki had the last word, carrying the most annoyingly smug smile on his face ever.

With that, he left, I heard his footsteps make their way down my stairs, and then out of the house, followed with the slamming of the front door.

Well, that was, a very interesting conversation.. to say the least.

I know the girls would kill me for completely ignoring their words, but, you only live once, and he's hot, so. They'll forgive me eventually.

I looked at the letter directed to my penpal, with a sigh, I reread over it. Damn, I don't even know if this penpal shit was any use of my time anymore.

But still, I folded it up, and placed it in an envelope, I'd post it later.

I sat around, the unwavering scent of Niki's cologne fulfilled my room, every crevice literally smelt of him, and I even found myself liking it.

Dear lord, I'm ruining my own life. Half an hour passed, and I still just thought about what happened when Niki was over. Damn, I can't even recognise myself.

Cutting me out of my little fantasy, another text pinged, and obviously, I thought it would've been from Niki. But looking upon my phone, I realised that it wasn't quite Niki, but instead, his best friend.

Sunghoon had sent me a message, followed by a video. I furrowed my brows, confused as to what the video was, but nonetheless, I opened our messages.

sunghoon: listen to this

sunghoon: *sent a video*

I opened the video, and at first, Sunghoon was battling with the camera to stand up, but as he finally managed to succeed, he walked back, revealing that he was in a studio with his friends, Niki included.

Niki looked too fine, the guitar strap over his shoulder, holding the head of the guitar gently as he practiced a few notes, playing a short riff before they officially started playing.

I know Sunghoon sent me the video, and I know my main priority was to focus on Sunghoon, but Niki was just there, and holy fuck, the dim, warm lighting on his porcelain skin, the veins on his hands, the guitar?

Someone needs to hold me back before I send that man another text to come over.

Anyways, they began playing, and as the instruments started playing, the lyrics began too. I wasn't sure if I was hearing right, but I swear to god, those lyrics they were singing sounded oddly familiar.

I tried to listen intently, but over the loudness of the guitar and drums, I couldn't hear most of the lyrics clearly. But from what I could barely deduce, some of the lyrics resembled the ones that I had sent my penpal, Riki.

I had this, daunting feeling inside, swallowing hard as I tried convincing myself that I was just hearing things. And as the video came to an end, I felt a little confused - I swear to god some of those lyrics I made.

Nonetheless, I brushed it off as just a mere coincidence, however, still kept it in mind. That was weird, maybe it's just some strange coincidence? But then again, the chances of that happening are quite low.

I text Sunghoon back briefly afterwards.

haeun: omg it sounds so good wtf

haeun: are you guys performing live some time soon?

Sunghoon didn't take too long to reply.

sunghoon: yeah actually, we're performing at this venue nearby sometime next week

sunghoon: it'll be pretty cool, you should come

haeun: oh really?

haeun: consider me there then

sunghoon: looking forward to it ;)
