"Are you seriously just going to ignore me?" Niki gave a small groan, but continued trying. He walked a bit faster, till he was walking right beside me.

"What? Does it annoy you? Surely you're doing so fine without me, didn't you just get the number of a girl? Maybe she can help you perform." I bitterly scoffed as he just rubbed his face, emitting a low groan.

"I was trying to take my mind off you." It was obvious that he was desperate to at least talk to me and try and heal whatever happened between us.

But clearly, that night, I wasn't having any of his bullshit.

"Mhm, heard it all before. Yejin's wondering where you are too." I chuckled, mentioning girl after girl to him.

"Haeun, god, she's not my girlfriend. Let me explain myself, even for a minute." Niki reached for my arm again, and at this point, rain droplets fell heavier and heavier onto us.

I stopped walking, looking up at him, his face ridden with guilt and remorse. The beads of rain trickled down his skin, one after another, and down his neck, his hair drenched in water.

How could I honestly even walk away from this sight?

Sure, I was too, drenched in buckets of water, but this man just seemed to suit this.

"I know it looks wrong, I know that you're seeing me with different girls, It sounds bad when I say it, but I'm trying to just not think about you." Niki began, and I honestly wasn't even sure whether this was supposed to be flattering or not.

"Do you hear yourself right now?" I scoffed, sniffling as my entire body was basically 99% water at this rate.

Niki's hand slid from my wrist - to hold my hand gently. His eyebrows knit slightly upwards, sparkles in his eyes despite how dark and gloomy it was.

He looked down for a brief moment, giving a light sigh before staring back up at my face.

"I need you, so badly, you're my muse Haeun, you're the reason I do what I do." Niki's voice was sincere, sure it was, he had a low, rasp to it.

With this whole rain and thunder, along with our little misunderstanding in this middle of some sidewalk, I honestly wasn't sure whether or not I was in a movie.

"I don't even know what to think Niki, my mind isn't even clear. You lied to me, straight to my face, then you're telling me that you miss me yet you're with other girls. You're justifying that by saying you're trying to forget about me - what is it that you really want?" I shook my head, looking down the ground for a second while giving a pitiful chuckle.

He swallowed hard, looking up to the sky, the rain droplets crashing down on us.

"You Haeun, I want you. I have been wanting you, I'm an asshole, I should've been honest with you and treated you like you should be treated. Haeun, I'm sorry." Niki's tone was frustrated, in a sense of desperacy.

I wanted to forgive him right here right now, but there was a part of me that wasn't completely on board, I just needed to clear my head for a moment, just let myself restart and refresh.

"Just give me some time." My tone of arrogance and unwavering attitude diminished, and I glanced over to the side, giving a sigh, my words more soft and disappointed.

I slid my hand out of his, I was soaked in water, and so was he, the whole city was drenched in water. The clouds rumbled above, and the silence surrounding us, spoke a lot more than we did.

"Let me take you home at least." Niki sighed, accepting my words.

"It's fine, I'll just get a taxi." I started walking off again, but Niki came beside me once more.

"Haeun, just let me." Niki gave another solemn sigh, and honestly, by this point, I had no energy to talk back or argue or reject his proposals, it was heavily raining, I wanted to get warm, so, with no other option,

I just gave in.

It was more than awkward, heading over to his car. I trailed a little behind him, and he occasionally checked behind him to see if I was still there, or I just magically disappeared into thin air.

He opened the door to his car for me, and I sat in, the leather seats immediately coated in rain. I hated how the fragrance of his perfume brought me comfort, how as soon as he started the car, he turned the heating on, how he even checked behind him to make sure I was still there.

God damn it, he's annoyingly loving.

The drive home was silent, a bothersome, tense silence between us. Only thing separating us was the radio and the thundering coupled with the rain.

He dropped me off beside my house, and before I left, he spoke, breaking the long streak of silence between the two of us.

"I can't write without you Haeun, don't leave me for too long." He gave a sigh, not even looking at me, but at his hand on the wheel.

I swallowed hard, taking in account his words mentally, but not saying anything in return. I simply left, unlocking the door to my house.
