I felt my heart stop as I walked into the hall, looking around at the volume of people who were in the room with me. The company party had always been something that I had feared, Taemin was well aware that it was something that I wasn't looking forward to, but I never anticipated the event would be quite as big as it was.
(A/N: I've picked out a good pic.)

There were a few faces that I recognised, who I knew that I would seek comfort in throughout the night, but several who I was clueless of too. There were many managers, backstage staff members who I never usually got to greet, unable to even recall their names.
"It's going to be alright," Taemin assured as he noticed my pace slow down beside him, tightening the hold of my hand a little.
"It's busy," I whispered, aiming to keep my voice as composed as I possibly could, "I wasn't expecting it to be quite as loud as it is in here, so many faces are here too."
Taemin's head nodded understandingly as he slowly led me across to the bar so that he could get me a drink and try and calm my nerves, giving you something to settle with.
As the two of them began to integrate around various groups though, Taemin could easily tell that I was still struggling. I barely ever managed to give an audible response when someone spoke to you, too nervous to properly speak, not trusting my voice not to falter either. My hand never left his either, constantly searching for the bit of support that I needed from Taemin to know things would be alright.
"Do you want to be here?" Taemin questioned as the two of them transitioned from one group to another, "if you want to go then I don't mind heading home soon."
"No, I don't want to get in the way of your evening, this is a celebration of your work over the year," I assured him, taking a deep breath in. "I might go and see if I can find Jinki, if you want to go and talk to some more people, I'd rather just stay out of the way."
As I went to walk away, Taemin's hand pulled me back, refusing to let me out of his sight. Although he trusted Jinki to take good care of me, when I was feeling anxious, Taemin was the only one he wanted to have looking after me.
I smiled weakly as he pulled me back so that the two of them were stood face to face, moving his free hand to rest against my waist. My eyes immediately looked down once I felt my cheeks begin to darken, shying away from Taemin.
"You're staying with me," he instantly spoke as he noticed your eyes beginning to look around again. "I don't want to lose you in a place like this Y/N."
My head nodded back across at Taemin as he squeezed my hand again, pulling my eyes up to look at him. He could tell just by the look in my eyes that I was struggling, knowing that my heart would probably be pounding as I looked at him.
"Wherever you go tonight, you go there with me, I don't want to leave you alone."
The corners of my mouth slowly turned up as I listened to Taemin's reassurances, knowing that he meant every word too. He never liked to leave me when I was feeling anxious, he liked to be there for me and supporting me, knowing just how dangerous it could be to leave me alone.
"Do you want to go and say hi to some of your friends?" I asked him, spotting a few of the members of Super M as I glanced behind Taemin's shoulder.
I offered them a smile as they smiled across to greet me, watching as Taemin's eyes looked back at them momentarily before looking back across at me. I knew straight away what he was asking, nodding my head back at him to let him know what I wanted to do.
"Just squeeze my hand if you feel like you're getting a bit anxious," Taemin instructed, moving his arm around my waist to offer me a bit more protection in the crowds.
My head nodded as I listened intently to him, "I don't want to get in the way of you being with your friends, don't say that."
"And you don't say that, you're more important to me then any of those guys."
"I'll be alright," I encouraged, lightly tapping against the small of his back to get him moving, watching as the other members continued to hang around to greet them both.
As I walked across to greet the boys, I took several deep breaths to keep myself composed. Taemin held tightly onto my hand, hearing my breaths quicken a little as I neared them, forcing a smile onto my face as I met their eyes.
"It's so good to see you," Mark immediately smiled across at you once I was within earshot, "it's been so long since we got the chance to see you Y/N."
As ever, they immediately made me feel settled, leaving me questioning why I ever got so nervous about being with Taemin's friends. The conversation instantly included me, despite the fact I was the only one without the most important thing in common with the group.
Whilst the conversation went on, Taemin always made sure to keep his eye on me too, checking on me ever chance that he had. As soon as the conversation drifted from me, he would squeeze my hand or meet my eye, offering me a smile of comfort, checking over the look in my eyes closely too, knowing that that was always the true sign that he needed to figure out exactly how I was feeling.
After a few minutes, the group began to drift apart as various members were pulled by various members of staff, soon leaving the two of them alone once again. With everyone out of earshot, Taemin pulled me to face him properly, closing off the rest of the room.
"You did really well then," he smiled across at me.
"I always feel quite comfortable around those guys," I responded, glancing across as they walked away from me both, "there's something about all of the members of the groups you're in that makes me feel so at ease."
I was never quite sure what it was about those around Taemin, but so often it felt like they had all the right answers to help me feel less anxious, even without knowing what they were doing for me.
Perhaps it was that they were so alike to Taemin, they were the sort of people that relaxed me. However, no matter how many people made my anxieties less heightened, no one managed to do it quite like Taemin. Despite how nervous I was to attend the party that night, somehow Taemin had found a way to ease my mind.
"Do you want to go and find Jinki now?" Taemin offered, "I think the rest of the boys might be over there too, somewhere a little more secluded for us to go."
My head immediately nodded back at him, "I think my heart needs a few minutes to just to settle back down again."
"Come on, we can take as long as you need over there."
