A/N: I wish I can tell you what happened in my dream, but anyway..... let's get started!

----------------------------------------------------------------

Sighing as you stumbled a step to your front door, you caught yourself with a hand leaning against the hardwood and toed off your black shoes while digging through your bag for your keys. Hearing the jingling of the metal as you close your fingers around it, you yanked them out only to spill your cardigan and pouch out with the movement. Scrambling to grab at whatever fell out with a frustrated sigh, you stopped mid-squat when you heard a soft meow and the sounds of your door being scratched.

Your tensed figure relaxed before quickly picking up your mess and standing back up to unlock the door, cooing for your fellow companion to move further away as you push the door open. Shuffling in cautiously as your feline friend tries to weave itself between your legs, you could barely get the time to deposit everything onto your coffee table and sofa before the meowing continued, demanding for you to give it attention. Reaching down to give it a little scratch behind the ear, you continued your way into your small kitchen and opened the upper cabinet to pull out a container and a can. Recognizing the sounds of the dry food rattling around the container, it ran over to where you were, meowing loudly yet again as you chuckled tiredly, taking a scoop of dry food before opening a small tin of wet treats to mix into the metal food bowl. Lowering down the spoon, you let it clean off the excess with tiny licks before throwing the spoon into the sink and walking over to where you'd usually place its food and water. Even before you could place it down, the young cat would already have its paws hung around your arm as you lowered the bowl, head stretching out to have a head start on its dinner. Chuckling yet again, you'd give it another little scratch before standing back up and taking out your leftovers from the fridge to heat up for your own dinner. Stopping by the fridge yet again, you hesitated before pulling out a can of beer to go with your leftover food.

Slumping onto the couch after putting down your food and drink, you picked up the TV remote to turn it onto a random channel playing a show you had not much interest in to fill the silence in the room. The ticking of the clock stole your attention, telling you how much later you had returned home than usual, and with a sigh, you cracked open the cold can of beer.

Sipping mindlessly as you stared blankly at the screen, you felt the exhaustion wash over you in a wave, and for a moment, even breathing felt difficult. It was a soft meow and a warm nudge to your hand that brought you back into the present as you snapped into attention, nudging your cat's curious taste buds away from your untouched meal. Sighing and quickly finishing up the leftovers with a grimace when you realized the middle was not warmed up properly, you set the empty plate back onto the table and picked up your can of now lukewarm beer. Laying your head back onto the backrest of the sofa and curling up, you felt the burying of your cat into the warmth of your legs and body as you closed your eyes. The ending of the drama that was showing on the television played a familiar tune and you let yourself drown in the feelings it brought forth in your exhausted state.

The faint sounds of rain pouring outside barely comforted you but yet you turned your head to the side to stare out the window as the tears start to form and fall. You would blame it on overworking, but stuffing your schedule full was the only thing that stopped you from thinking about her again. Eyes flicking down to the little bundle of warmth resting against you, you couldn't help but bite your lips to hold back the sobs as the numbness of exhaustion thawed away for reopening the wound.

You remember how long you had sat down discussing with her as the both of you scrolled through the adoption page. You had moved in with her after a year, and you both felt that it was time for the next step in life where you made the home of two into a family of three. The moment you scrolled down to the next profile, the sight of the pictured small sleeping kitten made you coo and you turned to the woman sitting beside you with a small pout as you read off its written profile. Getting a little one was one of commitment, a promise that you'll be there for it till the end. The discussion started a couple months ago when you were laying your head on her shoulder as the both of you relaxed on the couch.
