A Destined Vow Made 13 Years Ago

Dior Adamson Cervantes

Time is passing. Time will never stop. Time will never change just because you are suffering. Every moment you spend, time passes. In the blink of an eye, today will become yesterday, and there will be no turning back.

If only I could go back in time and recreate all of my joyful moments, I'd be lost in the past and never return to the future I'm terrified to face.

"Ano ba naman yan? Mali yung ginagawa mo Adam eh!"  The little girl next to me keeps shrieking at me. It's been 15 minutes since I started learning embroidery, and she kept reminding me that I was doing the stitches wrongly.

We're sitting in a pile of rocks in the woods, with a view of Pau Falls ahead of us. The falls here are serene, which is why I followed this little, noisy girl, who is now crafting bracelets out of santan flowers.

The girl is making a face now that makes me want to push her in the waterfall.

Come on, I never mentioned that I wanted to learn embroidery.

I merely said it to keep her quiet and divert myself from her constant chatter.

The view from here is stunning. Can I just savor it for a while?

I met this girl 2 years ago. I was 10 years old at the time, and this girl was maybe 7 years old.

I agreed with my Dad's condition, however, I did not expect to meet this annoying little girl and sabi nila ay siya na daw ang pinakamalapit na bata sa age ko kaya magkakasundo daw kami. I was expecting a boy best friend, but this little girl's younger brother is only four years old, and how will I deal with that baby?

This girl is the second daughter of the family who owns the farmhouse where my parents usually buy supplies for our hacienda. Which is why, despite knowing this girl for two years, I had no idea what her name was.

Why will I ask for her name? As if I would ever see her again.

"Ibibigay mo ba yung tinatahi mo kay Tita Lilly?"  I was so busy in distracting myself and hindi ko na napansin na pinapanood niya na pala ako.

"No! She was wearing a sunflower dress na hanggang tuhod niya at naka half ponytail ang kanyang mahabang buhok. She really looks cute in that dress.

Anyway.

She said while smiling and giggling na akala mo may nakakatawa sa sinabi niya.
