You looked back at your house before you left, your bedroom window moved indicating a wink and the branches gracefully waved you goodbye. As you looked out the window on the drive you thought about your house, plants, and all the animals and beats you have and how much you already missed them.Your mother was serious about trying to keep Penelope energized for the wall. Penelope was eating a tin of waffles in the back seat. Your parents had a flying blue minivan, father was driving while mother was in the passenger seat. You sat in the middle with your bags and Owlbus in his cage on your lap. Owlbus was small, so carrying his cage was easy. Poppy and Penelope sat behind you, Penelope eating her sugar filled waffles and Poppy playing with a Quidditch action figure of her favorite player Arlo Duncan. Then in the trunk, the rest of the bags.
"WE'RE HERE!" You snap back into reality after daydreaming about Herbology and Potions and immediately felt the excitement from the back seat rush towards you. You could feel other people's emotions. You knew exactly how everyone you were around felt and could feel when someone was looking in your direction, even if you couldn't see them. Daydreaming helped block it out, but it also blocked everything else out. You usually ignored it but sometimes you couldn't if the emotion was too strong. It overwhelmed you sometimes and you would look forward to bed every day, tired from all the extra emotions you felt.
You get out of the car in front of the train station.
You get all your belongings on a dolly, and your parents help Poppy and Penelope. As you walk up to the entrance you hear a very familiar voice.
"Y/N! Wait for me!" You turn and see Lavander Hills, your best friend. She ran up and hugged you, you haven't seen her all summer, she was with her grandparents out East, and it was hard to get in touch. Gramma and Grampa Hills you called them, didn't have a phone and it took days for letters to get back and forth between you and Lavander.
You were both wearing the matching yellow outfits for Hufflepuff since you can't wear your school robes in front of muggles.
"I missed you!" she exclaimed picking you up and squeezing you. Lavander was taller than you, and always liked to pick you up.
"I missed you too!" you say trying hard not to cry. Suddenly you hear,
"MYSTERIA!!" Poppy and Penelope ran over to Mysteria, Lavander's little sister who was also starting Hogwarts this year.
"Wow," Lavander said noticing Penelope's unusual energy, "did Penelope come out of her shell this summer?" You laughed at the difference in your sister.
"No, my mother has been giving her muggle sugar all morning to keep her energized. She's hoping she'll just run through the wall without thinking twice about it." Lavander and you giggled a bit, but also hoping it would work.
"Lavander, Y/N." Both your mothers were calling you over for pictures before calling the girls. You both walked in front of the train station entrance and posed. You both made a funny face in one of them, then your little sisters came in for a few pictures. You all posed and took a funny picture too. "Okay, now just our first-year girls!" yelled Jade, Lavander's mother. You and Lavander moved over to the side.
