Chapter 43 ~ Christmas

DECEMBER 22ND

Training and practicing were going well, your family, friends, and Draco had been a big help. You and Draco kept each other on top of schoolwork and would sneak off to the cottage to be alone. Your family hosted Christmas every year, you would share your room with some cousins and Poppy and Penelope had some in their room too. The rest of the family slept in the guest rooms, there were a lot of people in the house during this time.

This year you and Draco would sleep in the cottage, it left more room and your mother said there was some concern regarding your relationship. Your family was a full Hufflepuff family and that meant every one in the family was and married to a Hufflepuff. Your family had no problem with other houses personally and didn't care if someone was muggle born or half-blood. They just cared that they were in Hufflepuff while they were in school.

You, Draco, Lavander, Mysteria, and your sisters all teleported home through the port-key. Lavander and Mysteria went home and Draco walked you and your sisters home. He ran off to the cottage to drop off everything and then go see his parents. They were all going to join you for dinner and your family would be arriving tomorrow.

Your mother and father were excited to see you as always, the outside of the house had giant lights all over it, each one a different color and snow fell softly and reflected all the pretty colors. The inside was decorated with lights and garland, every step you took the ceiling shimmered and sparkled. The house smelled of every Christmas scent you could think of. Your mother has a very special candle that smells like whatever you want it to smell like.

When lit, your mother could think of strawberries and that's what it would smell like to her, while you would be thinking and smelling blueberry cheesecake. You always wanted one, they lasted for ten years. Your mother set the table, she was so excited that you and Draco were together and that Narcissa would be in the family. But you and your parents both worried about your family, a lot of your family feared the Malfoys.

Your mother said she sent a letter saying that you were dating Draco Malfoy and would be coming to Christmas, a lot of the family were not happy. Your mother told everyone and the Malfoys not to mention the soul bond.

"They're worried you're going to marry him, I know that is what is going to happen, but we should let them get used to you two being together before we drop that bomb on them. You agreed, you were still recovering and didn't need the stress of what is going to happen when you eventually marry Draco. Your memories were getting stronger which felt nice, Wyatt had been avoiding you and Draco thankfully, so you were able to recover in peace.

Draco walked into the house with his mother and father. His mother looked happy to see you all and complimented all the decorations. She put the gifts they brought by the staircase that was decorated with lights and ornaments. Your staircase was also your Christmas tree every year, all the ornaments were hung on the leaves that had everyone's name on it.

Draco's father, Lucius, was just standing there looking unimpressed. He didn't want to be here, he didn't want Draco to marry you, he wanted nothing to do with you and your family. Your father welcomed him but he just walked away. Your father smiled really big which made you giggle. That was his 'this is off to a great start' face.

Draco warned that his father would probably be cold but you all did what you do best and be nice and welcoming to your guests. Your mother didn't know what to make so she made a little of everything. Potato's, three different salads, two different meat options, and at least seven different sides. Your mother put on a Christmas record as you ate and talked, Lucius stayed quiet but everyone else were getting along fine.
