Chapter 15 ~ Wait a Minute

After Draco left you felt bittersweet. You felt a lot better getting all that out, you didn't realize how much you were holding back. But you didn't trust Draco and you wondered why you told him all that. You walked out of the common room still admiring the necklace from Narcissa. Lavander was sitting on the couch reading and saw Draco leave. She saw you come down the stairs from your room and she closed her book and motioned you over.

"How did the tutoring go?" She asked while you sat across from her. You felt anxiety and excitement. "We didn't study at all actually; he came in to check on me and his mother wanted me to have this necklace." You show her the beautiful golden necklace. "His...mother gave that to you?" You sensed confusion, not just in her emotion but her voice too. 

"Yeah, he gave it to me and said it was from Narcissa. I told him to thank her for me." Lavander closed her lips and nodded. "Well, that was nice of her, she must have seen you faint." You laugh while saying, "Everyone saw me faint."

The next day was Monday, Herbology and Potions. Draco seemed calm during class, some anxiety but you could tell he felt more relaxed now. It made you happy, but you still felt his eyes. 'Why does he keep looking at me? It's not uncomfortable, and for some reason I'm not really all that bothered by it. I feel protected somehow but why?"

You had been dealing with conflicting feelings about Draco since the library. You wanted everything to make sense.

Draco met you in your common room before dinner. He had his Herbology books, you agreed to work on Herbology on Monday's and Potions Thursdays. "Would you like to work at the Three Broomsticks? We could study and grab dinner." You felt his anxiety, but he smiled right through it. 'Go out with him to the Three Broomsticks? Just us?' You got nervous. "I... uh..."

Poppy and Penelope suddenly popped up from behind you on either side of you. "Can we go?!" They said in unison. You look at Draco who is smiling. "Of course, the more the merrier! I'm Draco," He knelt down to their level looking at them. "You'll need to help me on who is who." He said laughing nervously, the girls laughed at this. As they introduced themselves and how to determine who is who, you turned around to look at Lavander. 

You felt her eyes as soon as Draco entered the common room, she smiled and shooed you off. You felt like she knew something.

You all sit down at a table. You all order food and Butter Beer and Draco pays for all of it. "You don't have to pay for me and especially Pops and Pen." You tell him, you felt bad you and your sisters weren't his responsibility. "Don't worry about it, it's the least I could do for you helping me." 

'Among other things' Draco thought to himself.

You all start studying as you wait for your food. Poppy and Penelope were at one end both studying and doing their homework from that day while you taught Draco Herbology. At one point Penelope got up and said, "I need to go to the bathroom Poppy come with me please." They held hands and walked to the bathroom. Before leaving Penelope gave you a little smile.

"They're cool." Draco said after they left. "I see them in the common room with Missy sometimes, I didn't know you two had sisters until the first day this year." You smiled; you were happy your sisters were enjoying themselves. You felt Draco's anxiety build a little as you read for a little in silence. 

"Umm...Y/N, about that necklace. I-" "We're back!" Poppy ran back, Penelope walking behind her, but she was slightly annoyed. They sat and continued their work. "Sorry," you said "What were you going to say?" Draco nervously laughed, "Oh, nothing it's not important." He went back to his work, then the food came.

DRACO'S POV

After dinner you all walked back to Hogwarts. It was a cool night; wind wasn't strong, and it felt perfect. Poppy and Penelope were skipping in front of you and Y/N as you talked. You needed to bring up the necklace, but you didn't know how.

"Is it important now?"

Y/N POV

You walked with Draco, as you talked, you felt his anxiety, you felt it was something about the necklace. He got quiet after your sisters showed up. He wasn't going to bring it up. 'Fuck it.'

"Is it important now?" you ask. He looks at you, he didn't feel confused about the question, but this anxiety rose. "The necklace?" He paused; his anxiety was starting to build faster the longer he stayed silent. "It wasn't from my mother." He admitted. You stopped walking and unconsciously grabbed it. 

He continued, "It was actually from me, it was to help you feel better after you fainted, and I was hoping you'd forgive me for everything I've done and said, and we could start over. Be...friends."

'Wait a damn minute...'

"Wait..." You had no thoughts in your head, you didn't expect this at all. You needed time to collect your thoughts, but you needed more information. "You got this for me? When?"

"While you were in the hospital wing, I went to..." His face turned red a little. "I went to see you, you were unconscious still, I wanted to get you something to remind you of that win. So, I went and got it made that day." There was something he was feeling but you didn't know what it was. 

It was warm like the sun, but it also popped like fireworks, something about this feeling made you feel happy and safe. "I forgive you, and we can work on being friends. You looked at him, he was already looking, and your eyes met. The feeling came back, it started to feel warm and nice. It was trying to pull you towards him, his grey eyes seemed to turn white, he smiled at you.

"Y/N!! DRACO!!! LET'S GO!!" You and Draco leave each other's eyes and look over to where Poppy and Penelope were. Poppy had her hands on her hips yelling at you two and Penelope was smiling. You two caught up and all walked back to school. 

Draco walked you and your sisters to the common room, before you went in, he stopped you. Poppy and Penelope were already inside. "Saturday, there's a place I know that I heard you'd like. If you wanted to join me." You got nervous, was this like a one-on-one thing?

"Who else is going?" You ask hoping you could invite other people. "Blaise is coming and I was going to say you could bring Lavander and your sisters. Cedric too he's cool." He replies with a smile. 

"Sure, where are we going though?" You felt some joy come from Draco. He started backing away, hands in his pockets and simply said. "Rainbows." Before turning and walking away.
