My body ached from the different areas. I never knew an injury on head would hurt so bad. My palm as well hurt, making me unable to move it.
The smell of medicines and beeps of machineries, made me feel nauseated. As if it weren't a lot, the sight of my sibling beating up the guy left a nasty feeling in my tummy. I was greatly afraid from the events this pathetic day held.

I wanted to go home. My dad and brother tried comforting me however their each effort went into vain. The eeriness couldn't leave me, "I don't want to eat," My eyes didn't stop shedding tears. I cried harder when they forced me to eat the dinner. "I want to go home."

My sibling sighed, "Kahin nahi jaana hai, khana khao Roshni," his voice strict and harsh.

("You're not going anywhere, quietly finish your meal.")

Our dad shook his head at him, "Don't scold my daughter, Agastya."

Fine," he rolled his eyes, "Aap hi samjhaein phir isko," with disappointment dancing on his words. He handed our dad the spoon filled with soup. Turned to leave.

("You may reason with her then.")

Dad and I look at each other, I tug on his suit
jacket. He looks back at me, eyes filled with emotions, face remained stoic. "Sorry, naraz toh nah hoyein," I whisper.

("Sorry, don't get upset.")

Onyx eyes soften. He pulls his neck back before straightening his posture back, "Naraz nahi hoon meri jaan," he pats my head lovingly, "halat dekhi hai apni, khana nahi khaogi toh chalega kaise, abhi medicines lena hai, please have your food." He says tiredly.

("I'm not upset, dear. Have you looked at your condition, how will you manage without having food, you have to take medications as well.")

I nod. Quietly finish my meal with the help of our dad and him. I often checked at him, usually being so composed and clam, I knew this incident was bigger than what he showed it to be. He was so distressed. I was afraid if this will be a start to more severe problems.

When the darkness of midnight incorporated in the sky. My sibling asked our dad and Niharika to resort back to home. The former wasn't ready to leave however with multiple pestering done by my end, he finally left for home with his daughter in law.

My sibling stayed by my side, not leaving me for a second. He was seated on the chair next to my bed. "Dard ho raha hai?" He asked when I struggled with my palm, the nurse couldn't find the vein to connect with the needle on my hand. They reattached it to my wounded palm. It was hurting tremendously.

(Is it hurting?)

I nod to him. Concern swam in onyx eyes, "Please get this removed," I asked. I was certain he would be denying for my request, he took me surprise when he said.

"Koi aata hai toh karwa deta hoon," He stroked my fingers.

("I'd get it done as soon as medical staff comes.")
