With my heart hammering, I dialled Niharika's number. I was deadly afraid my brother must've dealt with her in a harsh manner. I talked to him before Niharika could reach there, I was not sure what he would say to me now.
"Hello," My sister in law's voice come through the phone. Although she sent me a text -stating- it was all going good. I was still over the edge till she confirms over call. "Roshni..." Voice filled with content and excitement.
My heartbeats calm, "Yes Niharika,"
She sucks in a deep breath, "I told your brother how much I love him."
"That's- that's great," My fingers clench the bed sheet tight, "What did he say?" I push back the obnoxious thoughts bubbling in my mind. My sibling was allowed to have a life of his own.
"He... he said, he wishes, he always be able to keep me happy."
"I'm glad to hear this, Niharika." A text pops up in my phone, I ignore it. "How are you guys?"
"We are good. Mister Singhania has left for work and I was exploring the property." She tells, "Thank you, Roshni. Main aapka yeh ehsaan kabhi nahi utar sakti hui," She adds after a short while.
("I can never repay you for this act of kindness.")
My head shakes. Limp shoulders fall back on the cushion, "Please don't say like that, Niharika. I am really happy for you two."
"Agar aapne mujhe jaane ke liye nahi kaha hota toh shayad aapke bhai aur mere beech woh baat kabhi nahi ho paati, thank you." Her soft tone sends a message of gratefulness.
("If you wouldn't have forced me to go, perhaps that conversation would have never happened between your brother and me, thank you.")
I smile, "Aisi koi baat nahi hai, Niharika. Main ummeed karti hui aap aur bhai humesha ek dusare ke saath khush rahein."
("It is nothing like that Niharika. I really hope my brother and you happily with each other.")
"I'm cannot be any happier," Words thick with emotions. She expresses her further contentment and gratitude. We talk for a while. After cutting her call, I make a video call to my sibling.
"Bhai, kaise hain aap?" My face turns bright, as my sight falls on his face. Dressed in his regular suited attire, hair set, he sat on his massive chair.
("How're you?)
He smiles, nodding, "Bacche, tum kaisi ho?" He raised a brow, "Tabiyat theek hai na,"
(How are you, dear. You feel well?"
"I'm good."
He hums, "It was your plan to send Niharika here, huh?"
I let out a chuckle, "I thought, she'd give you a much needed company."
"I'm here for a business trip, right?" He mutters sarcastically. "Tumhe aana hai, main arrange karwadun, by night you will be here?"
