|AUTHOR'S POV|

At Sharma house,

It was almost 6:50 in the evening and everyone was ready to leave for the party, except for Maya, who was still taking her sweet time doing her makeup. Aarohi, on the other hand, had gotten ready in no time. She slipped into her elegant indo-western attire with light makeup that beautifully complemented her natural appearance, making her look effortlessly graceful.

( Aarohi's look )

"Maya beta, jaldi karo! Party aaj hi hai, kal nahi hai," Dev yelled from the hall, clearly growing impatient, while Maya simply rolled her eyes in her room.

[Maya, hurry up; the party is today, not tomorrow.]

"Ji, Dad, aarahi hoon," she replied politely, though her thoughts were far from calm. "Aarohi ki tarah main simple look mein nahi jaa sakti. Aditya kya sochega mere baare mein agar main uski tarah plain aur normal si lagti hui chali gayi toh?" she muttered to herself, determined to stand out.

[Yes, Dad, I’m coming; I can’t go there like Aarohi. What will Aditya think about me if I go with such a simple look?]

"Dil kar raha hai iss Maya ko yahin chhod kar chala jaun," Abhimanyu whispered into Aarohi’s ear, making her suppress her laughter at her brother’s frustrated reaction.

[I feel like leaving this Maya behind and going on my own.]

Finally, after what felt like forever, Maya walked into the hall, dressed up to the nines. Yet, to her disappointment, everyone just gave her a quick glance and without saying a word, headed straight out for the party. Maya’s face fell instantly, she had spent so long perfecting her look, but not a single compliment came her way.

At Goenka house

Kajal was busy yelling at the workers to fasten their work speed; she was making sure that the decorations in the Goenka house were done properly, knowing very well that her elder son likes everything to be perfect yet minimal.
