|AUTHOR'S POV|

Aditya couldn’t sleep properly the entire night. Aarohi’s broken words kept echoing in his mind, refusing to let him rest. He was deeply disturbed by the new piece of information he had unintentionally learned.

The thought that Devyani, who always portrayed herself as the sweetest and most loving grandmother, could lock her own granddaughter inside a storeroom was shocking. They were well aware of Aarohi’s phobia and her anxiety issues, yet she had been subjected to such cruelty.

The more he thought about it, the more restless he became. Why would Devyani do such a thing? What was the reason behind it? After tossing and turning for hours, he finally concluded one thing, he needed to know about Aarohi’s childhood, her past, and everything that she had gone through. Only then could he understand her pain.

The Next Morning

Aditya woke up before Aarohi. Carefully getting out of bed, he went into the washroom and changed into his jogging clothes. As he was about to leave the room, he paused near the bedside. Aarohi was still asleep, her face calm and innocent in contrast to the torment she had shown last night. He bent slightly, just to make sure she was fine, and only when he saw her breathing steadily did he allow himself to move. Quietly, he closed the door behind him so as not to disturb her rest.

He was stepping out of the house when he spotted Rajveer approaching.

"Rajveer, mujhe tumse kuch baat karni hai. Breakfast ke baad mere office waale room mein milo," Aditya said in a firm, no-nonsense tone, his eyes giving away that it wasn’t a casual talk.

[Rajveer, I want to talk to you about something. Meet me in my office room after breakfast.]

Rajveer, unaware of the storm brewing inside his elder brother, simply smiled. "Okay, Bhai… and good morning, Bhai," he replied cheerfully before walking off.

About thirty minutes later, Aarohi slowly stirred awake. She sat up in bed, leaning her head back against the headboard. A dull ache throbbed in her temples, reminding her of her weakness from the previous night. As she closed her eyes briefly, memories of the nightmare and her outburst came rushing back.

"Kya Aditya ne meri baatein sun li thi? Agar unhone meri baatein suni, toh woh mere aur meri family ke baare mein kya sochenge? Main unka samna kaise kar paungi?" Aarohi’s heart clenched with unease at the thought.

[Did Aditya hear my words? If he did, what will he think about me and my family? How will I face him now?]

Her thoughts were interrupted by a gentle knock on the door. Aarohi quickly composed herself, got down from the bed, and opened the door. Standing outside with her ever-soft smile was Kajal, her mother-in-law.
