"Baby, do you want to go out for dinner tonight? Just the three of us. We can go into town, or we can go to the Cele B&B." I sighed. "I would like to Baba, but I'm tired." I really was tired. "I understand. Maybe we can get some junk food and then eat in bed and have an early night." I just chuckled. "Get some junk food? Here? Where everyone can see everything. I'll be accused of neglecting you. Don't worry. I'll cook. I have meat marinating anyway, but maybe we can go into town for breakfast. I want to do some shopping too. What time is the meeting?" He sighed. "Late afternoon. We can spend the whole day in town for all I care." He followed me into the kitchen after that and sat with me while I cooked.
MaKhumalo and the girls went to get pizza at the B&B, so it was just him and me. We were making out in the kitchen until we heard someone clear their throat. Baba groaned when he saw who it was. "What?" Zamo bowed her head. "I just wanted to check on you and say goodnight." He sighed. "I'm fine, Zamo. Goodnight." She nodded and left.
Surprisingly, he fell asleep before me that night. I thought maybe he would want to have sex. I did not have the energy. The next morning we got ready for our breakfast date. I put on a long-sleeved turtle neck dress and some heals. I obviously covered my head and wore a scarf over my body like a sash as a sign of respect for my husband and his family. I put on some light makeup just to feel like myself again. "Mamakhe! We were supposed to leave thirty minutes ago!" He came into the room with Simangaliso and stopped in his tracks. "Wow." He said stunned. "Now I don't want to take you in public. What if another man tries to steal you." I just laughed. "You're absolutely beautiful." Simangaliso squealed. "You agree, don't you." Baba said to him.
We were leaving the house when we ran into the other wives and Zamo outside. "Oh? You're leaving?" Zamo asked, and MaCele rolled her eyes. "Yes, we'll be back in time for the meeting." I ignored the interaction and got Simangaliso in his car seat. "Okay, I was thinking maybe we could talk. I didn't really get a chance to bond with you. I thought that's why I was here."
"You were here to prove your value in the traditional way. Since you would be staying here at the homestead, you were supposed to show MaMlambo and I you were compatible with our way of life. You were supposed to show us you can perform all the duties a good makoti can. You should not be worried about bonding with our husband. You should be worried about your chores and duties as a traditional wife. I know this luxury homestead can fool a lot of people, but we still live the traditional way. You're worried about the wrong thing. Now, the morning dishes aren't going to wash themselves. Also, your sister's children's clothes need to be washed." MaCele was in a mood today. She took Zamo away, and we left.Breakfast was amazing. I wished it could be like that forever. Just the three of us. I loved seeing Senzo interact with his son. It made my heart melt. I saw a weird notification on my phone and opened it. "Is something wrong?" I shook my head. "What is it? You're worrying me." I didn't know how to react. "It's an email. With a business proposal." I showed him, and he scanned it. A smile grew on his face. "Mamakhe. This is good. Obviously, you'd have to look over this with your lawyers, but this is amazing. A restaurant with world renowned chef's." I could believe it. "But Baba, what about you and Simangaliso?" He shook his head. "For the first two years, you can be a silent partner. Maybe just advise on big decisions. Baby, if there's one person who can do it all, it's you. I'll support you every step of the way."
"What if you feel I'm neglecting you?" He shook my head. "Then you slap me and remind me of this day when I told you to go for it. You have nothing to lose. I don't care if we need to hire fifteen assistants to help you out, but you're doing this. Even if I have to force you. You're going to make a name for yourself. Without my influence and your name is going to be huge." I couldn't believe it. I really couldn't. "Okay, I'm going to go over this with you and my lawyers when we get back home."
"That's what I want to hear."
