They arrived at the Northern Territory 3 days later and were immediately greeted by the grim sight of what was left of the defense tower.

There were fresh bodies everywhere – of the soldiers and the winged creatures that resembled humans but more grotesque in their appearance, like they were not finished being made.

Wei Wuxian checked one of the beasts, and found out that they indeed had the appearance of a normal human, but their back was crudely torn apart and stitched back together like some kind of an experiment.

“Chimera.” Wei Wuxian suddenly remembered something about these winged creatures, like he had known about them all along.

Then, he felt a sting on the inside of his head like someone was proding inside, and he almost yelled from the pain.

He keeled over and held his head when the memories came rushing down to him all at once.

The Holy War.

The Chimera.

The dead Angels and mythical beasts.

Lucifer.

Lan Wangji.

It took a minute for him to calm himself down and to rearrange his thoughts when he saw Lan Wangji approach him in a hurry to see if something happened to him.

When Wei Wuxian saw Lan Wangji, he remembered that instead of disposing him like Dottore told him to, he… prolonged his life by giving him his heart’s blood.

And since Lan Wangji was a high level Angel, the repercussion from losing his grace and being revived by alien’s blood was to become a cursed being that was neither human nor an angel – and to walk the earth for eternity while forgetting their loved ones.

Since Wei Wuxian was a special being, he partially nullified the curse by modifying it to reset every 30 or so years, so that they would only forget each other after 30 years.

Wei Wuxian hugged Lan Wangji tight and wondered how many times that this happened already, and how long he had this time around.

“Wei Ying… are you alright?” Lan Wangji hugged Wei Wuxian back with such tenderness that Wei Wuxian couldn’t help but cry a little.

That man had never changed. He always put him and his well being first, and he never asked for anything in exchange. Not even his love – which he gladly gave to him every single time.

“Lan Zhan… I love you.” He cried and chuckled and kissed Lan Wangji at once, causing him to be confused. But then he brightened.

“Does this mean you accept my proposal?” He looked at him with such a tender gaze and Wei Wuxian knew that this was where he belonged.

But before he could answer, he heard someone chuckling from behind them.

“Wel, well, well, isn’t this a nice surprise? A half angel and… wait, Xianxian, is that you?”

Both of them heard the flap of the huge wings, except that this man was not the failed experiment. Instead, he looked like an angel with his majestic three pairs of gold-tipped black wings, his long black hair and half naked body, and his tall and huge figure – like 7’ tall – and he was surrounded with a majestic golden aura. He was ethereally handsome with golden skin and shiny golden eyes, and Wei Wuxian immediately recognized who this creature was.

“Luci. Was this all your doing then?” He gritted his teeth in frustration. His power was sealed and in front of him was the Fallen Angel himself. “Why would you do this? Creating these… these abominations, and made them kill the humans? Do you want to take over the earth?”

“Wei Ying… do you know this… creature?” Lan Wangji did not like how this man looked. He vaguely remembered something when he saw the majestic creature and his black golden wings, but he couldn’t pinpoint the memory.

“I wonder.” Lucifer looked at Wei Wuxian with interest. “You… have become weak.” He narrowed his eyes. “And your companion is a human with the stench of an angel. What have you done, Xianxian?” He smirked. “And no, I just came to see who dared to wreak havoc without telling me. It seems that someone was being naughty here. I like this place just as it is – full of sins and entertainment. Why would I want to destroy my playground?”

“You mean you didn’t create those Chimeras? You’re saying that they weren’t yours?” Wei Wuxian quirked his brow in disbelief since it was as easy as snapping his fingers for the Ruler of the Underworld to create those horrible creatures.

“Xianxian darling, why would I create something so… ugly, when I have hordes and hordes of my beautiful demons and fallen angels? Did you really think that I have that much time in my hand?” Lucifer shrugged but Wei Wuxian glared at him.

“Alright, I admit, I do have that much time in my hand, but I don’t like ugly things, I prefer… aesthetic things more. And besides, those things reek of the Angels’ grace, and you know how much I hate angels.”

Wei Wuxian knew that it was true, so he had to find out more about this. And he had a feeling that the answer was lying with the same person who did the experiment by extracting angel’s grace and creating those Chimeras forcefully.

He had to find Dottore and ask him about this.

“Toodle-o then, Xianxian, I hope to see you again soon.” Lucifer waved cheerily at Wei Wuxian. “Oh, and by the way, you may want to save your little angel before he expires from his wound.”

“What? What wound?” Wei Wuxian turned around in time to see a red flower was blooming on Lan Wangji’s chest as one of the guards they brought stabbed his sword from Lan Wangji’s back.
