"The birds have landed, I repeat, the birds have landed."

The hoarse voice from the walkie talkie on the table caused the man to wake up from his drunken stupor, and when he processed the information, he quickly stood up–causing the table and the empty bottles of alcohol and the leftover takeaway to fall on the floor–and ran up to his supervisor to tell him about the news.

"Boss, I have the newest information." The man entered the basement where his superior was located and spoke while almost losing his breath from overexertion. "The angels have arrived on earth, just like you predicted they would."

"Hmm…" The man whom they called boss blatantly ignored him and continued with what he was doing before when he was interrupted.

There was this awkward silence that stretched for what felt like hours and made the first man sweat, until finally the man they called boss lifted his head from the complicated experiment in front of him.

"I've known about it already. Don't you have any newer news? Who's in charge of getting this info? I want him to change to a more competent one." Then he suddenly stopped and observed the man. "You smell like a brewery. Are you drunk?" He suddenly stood up and moved closer to the man.

"I-I… uh…" He was at a loss of words, since his brain was still trying to comprehend the situation he was in. "No?"

"Wrong answer." The boss' hand flew to his throat and a second later, the man gagged and choked on something that the boss had just injected in his neck.

"B-bossss… b-but why…" He tried to claw his closed throat, but his effort was futile, since his skin was already turning into scales – a result from the serum that the Boss had just finished working on.

It didn't take long for the man to change his appearance into a half lizard-half man, and the Boss stood there, watching every second of the change.

"Hmm." He kicked the creature – who was still writhing in pain on the floor. "Once useless, will always be useless." He turned around and gave an order to someone behind the shadows. "Put him with the others, and find someone else to replace his position."

From the corner of the dark prison cell, a huge black wolf watched the whole interaction with wary in its red eyes. Beside him was a little baby white fox with three tails – and it was shivering in fear.

The wolf scooped the baby fox into its embrace as if to protect it from harm, and the baby fox instinctively curled into its warm black fur. They were alone there, since the others had failed to return from whatever the man did to them.

There were many kinds of them. The fox, who was taken forcefully from its parents, and the wolf was a result of a genetic experiment that was conducted by the mad man. There were a few human-like creatures with wings, but those were taken quickly and never returned.

They knew that they were also not going to last long, since they had seen with their own eyes the fate of the others before them. The man usually injected them with some kind of a red liquid, and the supernatural beings that were being injected suddenly became wild and thrashing around, attacking anyone in sight.

But somehow, they did not want to lose hope.

They wanted to believe that there must be someone out there who would save them from this hell on earth, and it was just a matter of time before they found them.

But when they threw the lizardman into the cell beside them, a little of the hope flickered and died, and the only thing left was to pray for some salvation for the rest of them.
