We arrived home, the silence reflecting all our moods. Maira had sat in the back of the car with Adam, whilst I sat at the front with Adam's dad. Really, I should have sat with Adam, but Maira had asked him and he had said that he didn't want to sit with me.

I walked in, followed by Adam's dad, who called me over to the side and began saying, " I know this isn't ideal, but the doctor said that overtime Adam will remember everything, but just that it will be a gradual process. "

"I know. It just hurts, knowing that he doesn't remember me." I said, trying to not let the tears come out.

"Have sabr (patience). Allah will reward you for this." he said and began walking away.

I began walking upstairs towards mine and Adam's bedroom and was just about to open the door when a hand stopped me.

"What do you think you're doing?" Maira asked me.

"Going to get ready to sleep." I said, as Maira looked at me like I said something stupid.

"You're not sleeping with Adam." she said, staring at me.

"Yes I am. I'm his wife-" I said but Maira interrupted

"I'll sleep in his room. Besides , he doesn't even remember you Kyra!" Maira said, smiling at me.

Just as I was about to say something, Adam came and stood next to Maira. "Why's she here? The maids can go home at night right? I told dad to tell them that." he said to Maira.

Only then did I realise he was talking about me. I was a maid? He thought I was a maid? I looked at him square in the face and said, tears coming out of my eyes, "This maid is going home, far away from you, so don't worry, you'll never see her again."

Maira stared at me, a smile on her lips before she saw me looking and began making a sorrowful expression. I couldn't do this. Not now. Not ever. I gave them one last look and began walking away.

I walked out of the house, out to the back garden, letting the peace and calmness soothe me. The tears which had begun to come out of my eyes, now forced their way down my cheeks.

"Are you okay?" asked a strangely masculine voice.

I looked up and saw a young man, with brown hair and eyes watching me. I wiped away my tears and took a deep breathe. Way to go Kyra! You just cried in front of a stranger.

"It's okay. I'm Adam's cousin, Hassan. I came here with my mum and sister. We're just watching over Adam." he said, slowly walking towards me.

"I'm Kyra." I said wiping away the last of my tears.

"You're Adam's wife?" he asked me.

"Yup, I am. Well I was..but...now.." I said, shifting my gaze to the pool.
