November, 2054

Alex Garner flew to Ottawa to meet the Canadian prime minister, Carol Winters. Winters was receptive to the idea of the North American union. So negotiations should be quick.

He met the prime minster in her office and she began talking:

"I think this is a very good idea, however you must give a speech as not everyone in my government thinks this. You must convince them."

A couple minutes later he walked into the Canadian House of Commons and began his speech:

"To the dear citizens of Canada, our people our not just joined by language but by culture and brotherhood. America and Canada are inseparable, their history intertwined. Let us end pointless disputes over islands! Let us fix the Matter of Point Roberts! Let us come together as a union of peoples sharing a common will. This goal and vision shall guide the continent in the centuries to come and will help to preserve peace around the globe."

Mass applause breaks out, even the opposition is cheering.
