Hurricane Dick was bearing down on Louisiana, to what was perhaps the most vulnerable city in the United States.

This was expected to be the worst disaster to ever befall the US but turns out that was a massive understatement.

Alex was watching the landfall coverage of Dick, as the storm had 195 mph winds. It was deemed not safe to have humans cover the landfall. So they got advanced drones to cover it:

The reporter narrated over the drones:

"The winds are getting rough, we now have a reading of 100 mph and the storm is still an hour away"

"Massive flooding has been recorded...oh God there goes a levee."

Then a satellite image of the storms pinhole eye was shown. The radar showing it inch closer to the coastline. Then the radar cut off.

"We are now receiving winds of an excess of 190 miles per hour, that is the strongest winds from a hurricane in the United States to date."

Suddenly the drones went black.

"Looks like our drones were destroyed by Dick"

"The National Hurricane Center has issued special advisory it reads:

SEPTEMBER 1, 2055

5:33 PM CDT

SPECIAL ADVISORY

HURRICANE DICK HAS MADE LANDFALL AT 5:30 PM TODAY AT PORT FOURCHON, LOUISIANA

WINDS : 190 MILES PER HOUR

PRESSURE : 889 MBAR

THIS IS A CATASTROPHIC SITUATION AS MANY AMERICANS WERE UNABLE TO EVACUATE. STAY SAFE AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL"

Alex felt his heart in his throat. His tears falling down for all the people that he knew would lose their lives.

It was even worse than imagined. The storm stalled over Louisiana, dropping a record rain total. All the levees in New Orleans broke killing all people still in the city. In total 400,000 people died in this hurricane, making it the deadliest tropical cyclone in the World. Alex would survey the damage on the 7th. But he wasn't prepared for what he saw.
