After being reelected, his protege, The President, Evelyn Parker was to complete a transition that began in the last year of his presidency.
Parker began her speech:
"My fellow citizens,the Metric committee has finished its work, on changing all the highway signs in America to metric units. I decree that, all government agencies will use metric units. The official vote on adopting the metric system will come tomorrow."
The day came to vote on the new units and it passed narrowly both houses. It came to the president's desk and she signed the bill in to law.
America had adopted the Metric system.
