March, 2055

The Liberal Social Union met for the first time, to elect the leader of the party. The leadership office would be called the 'General Secretary' while the lower position would be 'Second Secretary'. Alex had suggested these names to make fun of the fact that most republicans had trouble distinguishing Liberalism and Social democracy from Communism. Even though those are very different things. The party Charter which was already drafted, included a proviso that the cycle would rotate, after one General Secretary stepped down, the next leader would be from a different country. This way the larger parties wouldn't dominate the smaller ones and the diverse range of ideologies could be represented. Also they specifically outlined the fact that the Second Secretary had to be from a different country than the General Secretary.

For the leadership Alex was running unopposed, and by a nearly unanimous vote with a few abstentions was elected the first General Secretary of the LSU.

Alex selected Devon Lightbourne of the Bahamas to be his Second Secretary.
