In May, Alex preformed his duties as Secretary of State and Visited the Republic of Eastern China. Since the War, East China had recovered a lot, and had once again become a major industrial power.
Li Wei Zhang, the president of East China awaited him.
"Your Excellency, Welcome to East China" President Li said.
The flag of China flew overhead, with its 5 bands of red, yellow, blue, white and black. Alex knew it was from the Beiyang Period of the Republic of China. When the Capital was in Beijing, before the Nationalists took over. The flag was called the "5 races under one union flag". The flag however was extremely unpopular. Being seen as a warlords flag, and that was part of the reason he was here. He was to help design a new flag for East China.
The military band struck up the national anthem, China Stands Heroically In the Universe:
"China heroically stands in the universe,
For many years to come.
Defend the people with no bias.
Industries prosper and the nation is solid.
Peace and tranquility within four seas,
For many years to come"
The local flag society, the Vexillological Research Center of China was already here.
They drew up the flag until they agreed, they inserted a dragon on the flag. As it had been the symbol of the Qing Dynasty and a common feature in Chinese culture. The new flag consisted of :
A dark blue background with 4 yellow stars in the corners and a large an off white circle centered . Filled with various yellow stars in a circle with a red star on top of the circle a yellow and red gear like circle with a central dragon inside.
"Perfect! " President Li Said, "I can't wait to unveil this flag to the people".
The next day, Alex woke up and went to the flag reveal ceremony.
President Li Spoke to the crowd in Chinese but the interpreter translated what he was saying:
"Dear Citizens of East China, since you have voted for a new flag in the referendum last month , we have designed a new flag that features symbols of the Chinese culture and will represent this country for many years to come."
And the flag is shown. It's a massive hit. The crowd goes wild. Massive applause echos all over the hall.
The flag is taken outside where it is raised on the flag poll.
It is officially adopted as the new East Chinese Flag that day.
