Angel Dust rushed through the front door of the hotel, heaving it open as he lowered his hand that he kept over his head as a makeshift umbrella to protect from the pounding rain. He wiped the wet hair that stuck to his forehead. Val had made him walk home today since he apparently didn't film the scene right and Val had made him retake it over and over. Lucky Angel, he escaped the worst of Val's wrath as his easily angered boss had been called to deal with other affairs which might piss him off even more than usual and he would most definitely make Angel stay later tomorrow. But that wasn't the problem at hand tonight as Angel's favorite feline bartender was missing from his regular post.

Angel turned to the fire-lit parlor where the demonic princess and her girlfriend sat peacefully. Alastor and Niffty were no where to be seen, but that wasn't very concerning as they were usually lurking about the hotel somewhere, but the cat-like demon often never left his place behind the bar. Angel scanned about the rest of the room and found no hints of where Husk might be.

"Hey Angel!" Charlie waved from her seat next to her overprotective girlfriend as she looked from at the spider from over the sofa. "How was work today?"

"Same as always," Angel shrugged as he jumped slightly at the sudden shock of thunder that was loud enough that it shook the ground. "Have you by chance seen Husk anywhere?"

"Yeah... I think that he disappeared up to his room about an hour or so ago," Charlie said, recalling the thought as her face contorted into a thinking manor.

"Alright," Angel said, already making his way up the stairs as the princess and Vaggie curled back up and continued to enjoy their evening together, "Thanks Char."

"No problem!" She called.

Angel walked down the very red hotel hallway and stopped at Husk's bedroom door, before knocking quietly, not knowing if Husk happened to already be asleep, and not wanting to wake him. "Husk," He called softly as he leaned on the door, "Are you awake?"

There was no response, just a clap of sudden thunder. A small whimper was heard from the other side of the door, filling the empty hallway. "Husk, are you okay, baby?" Angel called, opening the door a crack, so he could peek through. He found the cat, curled up in a protective ball on his bed, wings wrapped around himself as he sat there, trembling as he covered his large ears with his paw-like hands. "Husk?" Angel cried, rushing in as another clap of thunder filled the quiet air, causing another whimper to be heard from Husk. Angel sat down next to the shaking winged cat and asked nervously, "Baby, hey. Hey, what's wrong?"

No response came from Husk.

"It's alright Whiskers, you can talk to me," Angel coaxed, wrapping his arm around Husk and pulling him close to his chest.

Husk remained silent, but only to cry out again when the loud boom of thunder cascaded off the walls. He tightened the grip on his ears, seeming as if he was ready to rip them clean of his head.

"Oh fuck," Angel sighed. "Ya ears are sensitive ain't they?"

Husk finally gave a small nod.

"Don't worry, I'll be right here. You can talk to me, baby. I know that ain't the whole story."

Another clap of thunder and Husk flinched again. Angel looked down to see wet tears streak down Husk's face and seep into his fur. "Hey... It's alright... It's alright. You can cry if ya need to Kitty. C'mere," Angel said, holding all four of his arms out, which Husk crawled into.

Husk sniffled and his tears dyed down with the storm. Angel continued to hold him and began to run his fingers through Husk's fur, combing out all the mats.

"There," Angel sighed, as the pounding rain was reduced to soft, calming drizzles the hit the window in a trance-inducing pattern. "That's better ain't it?" He looked down at the no longer trembling cat in his arms and smiled.

Husk pulled away, standing up, heading towards the door, and grimaced, wiping what tears remained from his eyes. "Fuck," he muttered, "I'm sorry."

"What for, baby. You take care of me all the time, it's just my turn to return the favor." Angel said, standing up and taking Husk's hands in two of his. "Do ya want to talk about it?"

"No, not really," Husk said, his eyes darting anywhere else as to not meet Angel's.

"That's alright, but why don't ya just stay here, you don't have to go back down and we can just cuddle. We don't have to talk if you don't want to." Angel squeezed Husk's hands and pulled him close into a small hug.

"Yeah that sounds nice." Husk smiled.

"Good." Angel kissed Husk, locking their lips together. They stayed like that for a while before breaking away and lying down. Husk curled into Angel's chest, listening to his breathing as Angel smoothed the feathers on Husk's wings.
