Comfort Day

(Sorry for not posting in a while. I've been struggling with school work, writer's block and with life in general. But anyways here's the actual story.)

"And then this bastard fucking decides to keep me another two whole damn hours! Like I can't even feel my goddamn legs! Like, what the fuck you expect my to do ya whore?" Angel Dust complained, he had been going on about his week for the past hour as Husk listened patiently.

"You need a day off," Husk sighed blatantly, "If you come back at three in the goddamn morning looking like shit one more time, I swear I'm going to drag you outa that fucking studio myself."

"Thanks Husk, but I can't just leave," Angel shrugged glumly, "I'll never hear the other end of it when I eventually come back. Last time I just ignored him I got the worst of it when I did finally come in."

"I know." Husk reached his hand across the bar table and placed on Angel's more delicate one.

"Val may own me at work, but he's still got a lot of control over me outside." Angel's eyes darted away, he felt like he couldn't show how scared he was, despite how much Husk already knew.

"Well, at least we've got the rest of today." Husk slid Angel's hand into his and placed his other, gently, on his cheek.

The spider's eyes widened slightly as he felt his face flush. Husk was the only one who made him feel nervous like this, and despite the awkward feeling, he loved it. "What are you doing?" Angel asked as slyly as he could.

"Savoring," Husk responded, smiling, while running his hand along Angel's chin and sliding it across his other cheek.

"Hmm, well you can savor more later." Angel wrapped his hand around Husk's wrist.

Angel Dust was about to stand up when Husk pulled his face close to his own. "Where do you think you're going?" He asked, pulling Angel into a soft kiss. Husk cupped Angel's cheeks with his hands and Angel leaned into the kiss, wrapping one set of arms around him from over the bar table.

"Why is this the first thing I see when I thought I was going to enjoy today?" Alastor grimaced (yes I know he can only smile.)

Husk and Angel quickly pulled away, Husk burying his red and embarrassed face his hands. "Keep ya opinion to yourself, Smiley," Angel rolled his eyes and flipped Alastor off. Alastor, gladly, took this as his cue to leave and marched out the front door with a sickened look plastered on his romance-less face.

"Awww," Angel said in a mocking voice, turning his face back to his lover,"Is the kitty embarrassed?"

"I don't care how adorable you are, I will still jam this bottle down your throat," Husk gruffly warned, raising his drink as a threat.

Angel sighed dramatically before rising from his seat and prancing off up the stairs and calling back to Husk, "Ya coming?"

"Yeah, yeah, gimme a minute." Husk hopped over the bar table and went to go join his partner upstairs. He walked into Angel's room and noticed a shut bathroom door with the light seeping out from under it. Husk sat down on the very pink bed, which Fat Nuggets joined him on.

"Sorry, should'a told you that I'd be a minute," Angel said as he emerged from the bathroom. He had traded out his usual striped suit for an off the shoulder, lilac sweatshirt, but still keeping his regular shorts and thigh-high socks.

"Just c'mere," Husk sighed.

Husk laid down and Angel laid on top of him, wrapping all of his arms around his waist as Husk played with his soft hair. Angel sighed contently, listening to the soft hum of Husk's light purrs.

"I wish we could stay like this all week," Angel mumbled into Husk's fur.

"Me too Legs, me too." Husk's hand stopped running through Angel's hair and moved down to his chin to lift his head to meet his. Angel's eyes opened slowly and he smiled before pecking Husk on the lips and reaching up his hand to pet behind his boyfriend's ear.

Husk just noticed a small, purple bruise that ran along the right side of Angel's face, and immediately reached out to run his hand over it. Angel flinched at the touch and pulled his face away as his face contorted into fear.

"Shit, sorry," Husk said quickly. "Val, wasn't it?"

Angel focused his view elsewhere and nodded slightly before saying, "I-I'm fine... really." He slid off of Husk and sat up on the edge of the bed. He brought his knees up to his chest and hugged his arms around himself, putting up very weak, makeshift armor.

"You don't have to be fine. I'm not gonna be mad if you aren't," Husk sighed, joining his partner and wrapping his arm around him. Husk had always tried to make sure that Angel felt safe with him, since he had not often talked to people without his mask of a personality on.

"I hate people seeing me like this," Angel muttered, his face buried in his knees. He leaned into Husk and felt tears pooling in his eyes, threatening to fall. "I don't know what to do."

"You don't have to do anything. I'll be right here if you need anything."

Husk did as he said and sat there with Angel. He pulled Angel into his chest to lie beside him in the bed. Husk made a silent little vow to stay with his sad spider for the whole day. He did, in fact, fulfill his tiny mission.
