The other side.Kayla's POV
"Yes! It's definitely there. " Jason said surely through the earpiece.
"But I haven't seen any..." Leah's word got cut.
"What is it? Leah, did you find anything?" I asked but the was no reply.
'Was there a problem with the connection?' I thought. 'But, I don't think so.'
"Leah!" I panicked, what could have happened.
"Jason! Is the network still working? Was it jammed or is there a problem?" I asked Jason who seemed equally baffled.
"No, everything is all right." He said typing on the laptop.
"Then what..." "I found it!" Before I could finish my words, Leah yelled out excitedly.
"What?!" Jason asked confused.
"I found the password!" She exclaimed still happy.
"Then did you had to make us worried?" Jason asked, sighing in relieve.
"No, I just wanted to put you in suspense!" She said, trying to right her wrong.
"LEAH BLANK! Wait until the mission is over, then I'll show you what true suspense really is!" I yelled out angrily. I thought something bad had happened.
"No Kayla, it was just a joke, a joke" she said panicking, "I was just jesting, you know me, right Jason?" Leah kept on looking for anyway to save herself but not this time. "Jason!" She yelled out when she heard no sound from him.
"Hey! Don't get me involved, I'm also angry you know?" Jason ignored her plea. 'Good for him.' I thought.
"Jason!" Leah angrily called our.
"Now tell us what you saw." I said, stopping her from continuing her 'show'.
"Ok" she grumbled, resigning to her fate. "Let me get a closer view." Then it went silent for a while. It looks like she walked closer to the painting.
"Jason, here take this." I handed him my laptop so that he could input the password as Leah says it.
"Should I start?" Leah asked.
I waited for Jason to get everything ready, when he was done he nodded in confirmation. "Yes we are Leah, you can start. "
"Ok" Leah replied, "it's, one, zero, one, four,..." she called out as Jason typed in the digits. "...what's this here?"
Then the was no sound again, just when I was about say something,...
"There is a digital here that I can't make out, apart from that, the next word is C." Leah said. It seems like she moved back from the painting afterwards.
"What might it be?" Jason asked, perplexed. "We won't get access without the full thing."
"Can we try guessing it?" Leah asked.
"No. We can't risk it. We might be denied access permanently. " Jason disagreed.
'Hmm... what will the last one be?" I thought to myself. 'Is it a digit or a letter?' I stared at the screen of my computer. 'Weird, it looks like it follows a pattern of some sort.'
'If thats true, then what might the last digit be?' "Ahha!" I said loudly, making jason turn my way.
"What happened?!" Leah asked.
'If it really does follow a pattern then the answer most be...'
"Jason! The last digit is five!" I told him.
"How do you know? Are you sure? We can't just guess it, you know?" Jason said with a frown.
"I am sure! Just put it in!" I ushered.
"Kayla, we have to think this through,..." Jason started yabbing about not being rash, but I'm not rash. I'm sure about it. "So we can't just randomly..."
"Argh! We don't have time for this!" I got frustrated, then I grab the computer from Jason, "what..." He got startled. Ignoring him, I placed it in front of me and typed, '5 and C' in and pushed the Enter key. All done in a matter of seconds.
"What did you do Kayla!" Jason yelled angrily and took the computer from me.
"I saved us time." I replied.
"What's happening over there?" Leah asked worriedly.
"No you didn't!" Jason said, still angry. "I can't believe what you have done Kayla!"
"Guys, we shouldn't be arguing now." Leah tried to save the situation.
"Would you calm down and look at the screen!" I yelled back angrily, pointing in the direction of the screen.
Jason looked at it and, "Access allowed." He worded what was written on the screen. "But how?" He was now confused.
I could have answered but I was not in the mood to talk to him right now. "Leah, see what you can get from Madam Éclair's phone. We are done with this part."
"Roger!" Leah said over joyed.
"Kayla, about earlier,..." Jason started weakly.
"Not now. We have to help Leah right now." I intervened, I didn't want to listen to whatever he had to say. This mission is not just about him. Leah and I are both trying to help too. You don't have to be so on edge.
