"Mum?"

Cassidy held her phone up to her ear, brows knitted together in slight confusion. She sat up from the hotel couch, pausing the TV in front of her.

Taylor was still sound asleep.

"Hey Bear!"

"Hi mum... Is everything okay?," Cassidy asked unsure of the reasoning behind her call.

"Everything's fine, I'm just checking in," her mum explained. "How are you feeling?"

Cassidy mindlessly fiddled with the Eiffel Tower charm around her neck, "A lot better actually. Sorry about the last time we called, everything happening with Pierce was still fresh."

"It's okay Cassy, I understand," the woman reassured her, "I'm glad you're feeling better."

"Me too," the brunette let out a breathy laugh.

"Actually on the preface of that call— I was wondering, would you want to fly home soon? Come visit the family sometime next month? It's just, we all really miss you. Especially Eloise."

Cassidy shut her eyes at the mention of her beloved little sister. She was sure the pre-teen must hate her by now, she couldn't remember the last time they'd even talked.

"Uh—," Cassidy was unsure why she felt hesitant to the idea of going home, something in the pit of her stomach was stopping her. "Mum I'm pretty busy at the moment actually, you know with the new album and everything. It's left not a lot of time for my social life."

"Cassidy."

The brunette had now removed herself from the couch, pacing the hotel room back and forth. It had been forever since she'd gone home, since she'd spoken to most people in Australia.

The more time that went by, the harder it felt to ever speak to any of them again.

Not to mention, her amazing, kind and charming boyfriend was there, in her hometown and she truly never wanted to see him ever again.

She felt terrible but she was definitely not ready to go home.

"Mum, I really have to go—"

"Bear, she really misses you. It's cruel to ice out your little sister, we both know it. You won't have to stay long, could you manage a week? If you won't do it for me, at least do it for her."

Cassidy gulped, brushing her hair back with one of her hands. She felt her body trembling at the idea of flying back but her mum was right. The brunette was hurting all of her loved ones by cutting them out.

"Okay."

"Really!?"

"Yes, okay I'll come," Cassidy sighed, still unsure with the idea.

"Great! Don't worry, it'll be perfectly fine. I'll pay for your flights and everything," the woman said cheerily. "I'll text you later for more details."

"Okay," Cassidy replied, somewhat flatly but she did her best to hide it.

"Alright, talk to you soon. I love you! Bye."

"Bye Mum, love you too."

Cassidy flopped back onto her position on the couch after the call ended, a rather large sigh escaping her lungs. She was going to need a long run to think.
