Cassidy had spent the last several hours in her music room. She was strumming aimlessly on her guitar. There was a mixture of emotions churning within her stomach.
Unbeknownst to anyone, there were tears streaming down her cheeks. This was a torturous cycle. All at the hands of her stupid fucking narcissistic ex-boyfriend. He couldn't care less that he was ruining her life.
And clearly Jet Halton didn't either. In fact he probably couldn't give two shits about either of them. She wouldn't doubt that Pierce would be dumb enough to believe Halton was on his side.
The worst part about that man was that Cassidy was pretty sure he knew she wasn't a cheater. Hell, he definitely knew that. He wasn't doing this bullying for Pierce.
No, his motives were much less of a loyal friend. He was doing it for himself. He wanted fame. Money. He was willing to do vicious things for it. It will never be certain what his original plan was that day at the cafe.
Whether this was his plan all along, or he just so happened to get publicity from Noah's punch and rolled with it is unclear. What Cassidy knew for sure, is that he wasn't Pierce's friend. He would double cross him for a bigger opportunity.
Jet Halton was a big fat nobody.
Desperate for any form of attention he could get. Statements, posts and 'songs' about Cassidy blow up. That's why he was doing what he was doing and it was working, so why would he ever stop?
Unless he got stopped.
The brunette would do anything to get him caught in his own web of lies and get her ex-boyfriend back simultaneously. They deserved the worst kind of revenge.
It was only a matter of time until Kate got that letter. If she could find it... hopefully it would be the beginning of unraveling all the lies.
Pierce deserved that kind of karma too. He could have shut down Halton the second he begun spreading all of that bullshit. If he really meant anything he wrote in his pathetic little letter, he wouldn't have gone along with everything Halton said.
The words of that stupid piece of paper were practically engraved in her mind.
Dear Cassidy,
I know you hate me, and honestly you might not even want this letter.
But I thought you might want to know I'm going back to Australia. I know I've fucked up, many times and I want to sort myself out, starting with my drinking problem.
You ending things between us, really snapped me back into reality. It hurts that things ended like this between us, and knowing that it's my fault.
I don't want to be this angry person anymore. I want to be better.
I'll continue paying for the apartment for the next few weeks so you have time to find a new place.
Thanks for everything Cass, I'm truly sorry. I hope you find happiness in the future.
Pierce.
A bunch of lies. "I hope you find happiness in the future". Those words pissed her off so much. He really was a liar. The lyrics of The Lies of Loving You were not fabricated. It was all true. That note he left behind could prove that.
As well as prove that Cassidy was never the problem, it was Pierce and his drinking problem. The funny thing is she would have married that man if he'd have stuck around.
If she hadn't of met Blake that night to then meet Taylor. She'd still be in that house. Slowly drowning in their sinking ship. Trapped in the isolating walls of 'their' home. No friends or family were allowed after all.
