TRACK 6: LIKE A ROCKSTAR (CONTINUED)

march 20th, 2021.

THERE WERE SO MANY FEELINGS. TOO MANY. Cameron couldn't breathe. The nervous excitement was eating her alive. She was so excited to get to the arena she almost forgot to put her shoes on. If it wasn't for her brother she would've left without them.

What Cameron didn't know was Paige was there, just not with everyone else.

Cameron knew most of, if not all of her friends were there to watch her play on a pretty big stage. One of the biggest she'd ever play on next to playing for her country, Germany. Speaking of Germany, she never understood why they gave her an American name and Klaus the German one. The locker room had good energy, the best energy Cameron has felt all year. She didn't want to jinx anything, but she could almost taste the natty win.

"You look like you're about to puke." Cameron nudges her roommate, who does look like she's actually about the puke all over the floor.

"Is it obvious that I'm nervous?"

"A little bit." Bailey sits down in her stall, Kingston sitting in her stall which was right next to Cameron.

"How many of your friends came to see you play, Cam?" Is what Kingston asks as she puts on her gear.

"All of them." Cameron replies quietly. She's afraid she'd disappoint them. Her parents couldn't make it either, but her mom said she would've came if she could. Of course, Mr. Arko didn't say anything, not even a good luck.

"You'll play great, like you always do." She gets a thigh pat from Bailey as she ties her skates. She likes to get into her gear earlier and quicker than everyone else, it's always a superstition she's had. She then stands in the hallway with her headphones in, trying to chill out. It's what she always does. But, her whole pregame routine is fucked up now that there's a voice asking for her. It'd never be any of her teammates because they know better to let her be by her self before a game.

She turns to where the voice is coming from, her stomach sinks so fast. She hasn't seen that face in person for months, there was absolutely no way she wanted to see it now, especially before one of the biggest games of her career, maybe even her life. Cameron takes her headphones off, setting them down where her helmet and gloves were. "What are you doing here? Nevermind that- how did you get down here?"
