Nobody's POV

They both looked at him, then Rosie nodded in understanding. she gently took Charlie's hand.

'Let's go princess.'
'But i want to help him!'
'I know darling. He just needs some time by himself right now.'

Charlie sighed but nodded, and she walked after rosie, head down. Alastor forced air in and out of his lungs, gasping and shuddering. His throat felt like it was closing off, the edges of his blurry vision fading into darkness as he wept silently. He felt like he was drowning, like he couldn't get enough air, and in that moment Alastor was sure he was going to die-

I'm not going to die. I'll be fine!
We all know that's not true.

I'll be fine...
You're going to die. And guess what?

Nonononono. I'll be fine.

No one will miss you.

I'm going to...
You're going to die.

I'm going to die.
You're going to die.
I'm going to die.

He fell unconscious.

Rosie and Charlie stopped in the hallway, turning around as they heard a faint thump from Alastor's room. Simultaneously, they ran back and opened the door, seeing Alastor's body crumpled on the floor.

Charlie gasped and ran towards him.

'He feels freezing.' Charlie asked.
'I'll stay with him, you go back to bed.'
'But-'
'Sleep.'
'Ok.'
'Oh, and Charlie?'

She looked at Rosie questioningly.
'Could you not mention this to the others? You know how alastor is.'
She nodded in understanding, smiling. 'Of course.'
'Thank you, dear.'

Rosie looked back down at Alastor as the door closed gently. She held him close and closed her eyes.

The morning

Nobody's POV

Alastor woke up, blinking slowly, looking up to see Rosie smiling down at him. 'Morning, sleepy head.'
'W-what- oh.'
'Yeah, you had a nightmare.'

'Im going to fucking die. I'm staying here for a month.'
'No you are not you need to touch grass.'
'There's no grass in hell stupid.'
'Oh yeah. Well, Charlie promised not to tell anyone. So you're probably fine.'

'Good. Have you seen Vox lately?'
'Hmmm... Can't say I have.'
'Well he said he wanted to be my f-friend and locked Valentino up because he f-found out what he did... to...' Alastor shivered, pulling away from Rosie.

'You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. It's a horrible thing to do to someone. And you, of all people, it's just...'
'... Its f-fine...'
'No, it is not, no one has the right to do that to someone...'

'B-but- f-fuck why d-do I have this s-stut-ter?'
'The acid in the blood you were coughing up, it eroded your throat kind of.'
'H-how long for?'
'I don't know, but drinking cold stuff might help.'

'Ok-' He was cut off by a round of coughing, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.
'Like that.' Rosie said. 'I'm going to get you some food and water, ok?'
'O-ok.'
She walked out, and Alastor's ears went down as the darkness surrounded him, bathing the room in it's eerie cloak.

He painfully curled up into a ball, wincing as the memories of those seven long years came back at him. Total darkness, just nothing, for seven whole years. And don't get him started on the asylum.

Arms wrapped around his legs, he started shaking, whimpering quietly. The door opened and Rosie walked in. 'Alastor? Are you ok?'
'O-of course!'
'Ok... Well, I brought you some food and water. Me and the others are going shopping, I told them you had to do something really urgent. I expect that gone when I get back, ok?'

'C-can I c-come?'
'You want to go out with your voice like that?'
'...no...' He looked down, ashamed.
'OK then, we're leaving. Have a good time, Alastor.' She kissed his forehead.

'B-bye Rosie!'
She smiled and waved as she shut the door behind her.
