Mandisa Mhlongo

I have never been so agitated as I am right now. My husband has been on his stupid business trip for almost a month now and he hasn't bothered coming back. I'm not sure if he has forgotten that he is married and has a son or maybe he just priorities his work more than us, his family. I can never worry about him cheating on me because that is just impossible. He has eyes for me only and I make sure I keep it that way.

Mhlongo: "Mandisa. Can you please just cook? I'm hungry." I sigh. I have never had to cook in this house before and I most certainly won't start now. This man must be kidding.

Me: "But I just gave you food!?!" Seafood is also food so I don't get his anger, really. I can't be taking care of him when I need to rest. I sent my son to my mom for a reason so he must not try me.

Mhlongo: "You call this food?! Ungazonya la wena!" he snaps. He has been very snappy lately. It also doesn't help that his wife is nowhere to be found. Nobody knows anything or has seen anything. The lunatic just disappeared.

Me: "Can you please calm down?!"

Mhlongo: "Don't tell me that when I don't know where my wife is!"

Me: "Wife?!"

Mhlongo: "Kanti what is she?!" I just sigh and go sit on his lap. I kiss him slowly while brushing his chest. He really needs to calm down. The door opens and I quickly move from his lap. Ndlalifa walks in and I can't even contain myself as I scream and jump into his arms. He hugs me back coldly and doesn't even let me kiss him.

Ndlalifa: "Sanibonani." he greets us after putting me down.

Mhlongo: "Son, how are you?"

Ndlalifa: "Oh I'm good. I need to go take a shower." he rushes upstairs while I quickly prepare something for him to eat.

Mhlongo: "Don't tell him about his mother."

Me: "Okay."

Mhlongo: "See me before you sleep."

Me: "Can't it be tomorrow?"

Mhlongo: "No." I sigh and nod. After some time, I take the food and go to our bedroom. I find him sitting on the chair tying his shoes. He is dressed in tracksuits. I frown while slowly placing the plate on the table

Me: "Are you going somewhere, baby?"

Ndlalifa: "Yes. I just came here to give you this." he hands me an envelope.

Me: "What is this?"

Ndlalifa: "Open it. These were supposed to be delivered to you days back but I don't know what happened."

Me: "Divorce?! Usuyahlanya?!"

Ndlalifa: "Mandisa, sign the papers, please. I'm being kind right now."

Me: "But why? Did you find someone else?"

Ndlalifa: "No. I just have come to my senses." I choke on air when he says that.

Mandisa: "What is that supposed to mean?!"

Ndlalifa: "Exactly what you are thinking. Mandisa, I don't want to fight with you so please make things simple and sign the damn papers!" he slightly shouts.

Me: "I'll sign." I quickly grab a pen from my bedside drawer and sign the papers.

Ndlalifa: "Thank you." he says taking them and putting them back into the envelope.

Me: "I'm sorry."

Ndlalifa: "Sure. Look, I am not kicking you out of here. If you feel like you still want to stay with your baby daddy then it's fine. I'm leaving." I gasp. How did he even know?! He leaves after that.

_____________

I have been sitting in the same position since Ndlalifa left me here. I keep thinking what if he is up to something?! I'm also thinking if I should follow him or just let him be. He is my man so I am following him.

I unlock my phone and open the tracker app, it's been a while since I've used it. I used to use it a lot when we had recently started dating with Ndlalifa, I had to make sure he wasn't going out there, seeing ladies better than me. The app reports his phone to be in Joburg. I don't understand how because he left here like two hours ago.

Anywho, I quickly get dressed in a comfortable outfit, pack my necessities into a bag then rush out. I meet Mhlongo by the corridor and it looked like he was heading to my room.

Me: "Mhlongo?"

Mhlongo: "Where are you off to so late?! and shouldn't you be with your husband?!"

Me: "Your son left. He made me sign divorce papers and then left with them."

Mhlongo: "What?!"

Me: "Yes so I tracked his phone and it indicated that he is in Joburg."

Mhlongo: "How are you going to get there?"

Me: "I was going to book an emergency flight."

Mhlongo: "Don't worry, I have a friend with a Private Jet so maybe I can ask him for help. Wait for me."

Me: "You can't come with me, he knows that you are Nkosikhona's father."

Mhlongo: "Then what are you doing, following him?!"

Me: "Closure." I say then quickly leave before he can even stop me.
